I have a saniplus which has been working trouble free for 10 years until now. Recently the unit just hums but doesn't pump out. I dismantled the unit couldn't see anything obvious so just put it back together and it worked for about 2 weeks but has now failed again. This unit has only been used for liquid waste and not solids. Is it time to replace or repair?

Are the blades spinning when it hums? Blades could be gone. Possibly a stopped up drain line.

SOURCE: my saniflow saniplus has stopped pumping water

We had that problem but the unit was built in and I could not get at it, the outlet pipe sounds like it is blocked, I cleared mine by connecting a pipe from the cold tap to the outlet pipe and flushing.

SOURCE: Hi i have a saniplus macerator unit hums but

sounds like an obstructed unit - you would need to remove the impeller cover at the base to check the pump - i'm assuming youve already checked the blade unit at the top (be careful here - i use a screwdriver - not my finger) could be that a simple cleanup and acid descale would be all thats needed. try this first then start looking deeper.Humming indicates motor is ok - but dont let it run continuosly - you dont want to burn out a good motor.

SOURCE: I have a 3 year old Sanivite 3 macerator that has

if the unit is properly clean and you have checked the fuse - then i suggest it is the microswitch that needs replacing. these tend to go (break) within 5 years on the sanivite 3 models. If not the swich then it could be the capacitor (try this first - although as the swich is located next to the capacitor you can test this for operation at the same time). if none of this works then its time for a new unit.

SOURCE: I have a saniplus toilet,

Water pressure makes the unit kick on and off. Water could be leaking from the toilet tank into the bowl and from bowl into the pump. Or the check valve inside the discharge elbow (on top of the lid) may not be sitting properly or is being obstructed causing waste water to leak inside the pump, creating enough water pressure to make the unit kick on and off by itself.

Testimonial: "I took apart the Elbow and cleaned it out, replaced it and the toilet is now fixed. I had previously replaced the flapper. Thank you for the tip!"

Bath or shower does not empty, the saniplus hums then stops.but after 30 mins or so suddenly starts working.

Is your Saniplus humming or motor spinning slow or not at all?

It is likely the internal motor control capacitor - It is the most common replacement part for these units and a fairly simple DIY although you will need rubber gloves and bleach.

I have posted repair instructions for the Saniplus here:

My saniflo macerator plus has stopped working-it had been making a humming noise not draining-now it's not making a noise at all-what might be wrong please?

It could be a blockage in the blade, impeller or the discharge line. Also could be a defective starting capacitor, since the capacitor spins the blade and impeller, if the capacitor goes bad it will make the unit hum and not pump out the waste until eventually it shuts off completely and would not kick on and off at all. At this point, the capacitor may have to be replaced. You should contact Saniflo to order parts.

Sanipro continuously runs, however, not pumping waste away and waste water has filled toilet bowl. Any suggestions

There can be a blockage somewhere in the discharge pipe, the blade or impeller. Also the short discharge pipe or long elbow inside the pump casing may be split open or not attached properly and waste water is just cycling inside the pump casing. Worst case scenario could be a bad capacitor, the capacitor spins the blade and impeller, it that goes bad the unit will just hum and not pump any waste out until is replaced. You can also order parts through Saniflo if needed.

I have a saniplus in a bathroom with a sink & shower. It isn't used often. The water backs up in the shower. The toilet won't flush, only hums. Any suggestions?

If the pump is humming and backing up then there is a blockage on the drain pipe, blades or the impeller. Also the capacitor may have gone bad and it will need to be replaced. The capacitor drives the blade and impeller, if it goes bad then it would just hum and not pump out the waste.

Toilet will not work. when plugged it it hums even if i dont push the button,

When the unit is humming it could be something stuck on the blade or impeller preventing it from spinning. The drain pipe can be clogged or the capacitor which drives the blade and impeller may have gone bad. Tipically when the capacitor goes bad it will just hum and not pump the waste out.

It just humms nothing clogged on blades, whats up?

Typically the pump will hum is something is stuck on the blade, impeller or if there is a clog on the drain pipe that is not allowing the waste to be pumped out. The capacitor/condenser drives the blade and impeller, if the capacitor has gone bad it will make the unit hum and not pump the waste out. If there are no obstructions then most likely the capacitor will need to be replaced.
