You need to look at your image storage settings. Press "Menu", "up/down" and "OK" to choose "Image Storage"; is it set to "auto" or "internal"?
If it's set to "Auto" then there's some reason that it's not recognising your memory card. You should format it. Press "Menu", "up/down" and "OK" to choose "Format" and then select the memory card.
If it's set to "Internal" then you need to set it to "Auto". Then it will use the memory card if it's inserted. (Take the card out to access the photos in Internal Memory.)
press menu and move to picture settings and look for format or size if will have either (auto / 16.9 / panaranic / 4.3 displayed change it to full or 16.9
if there is a button on remote with aspect / zoom or format on it press until picture fill screen
lol, ok...The memory card will only go in one way. But check the little white switch on the side of the memory card and make sure it is NOT in the locked position. Once this is taken care of reinstall the memory card. Now in you options/menu screen you can select on there where you want your pictures to be stored...Device / Memory / Auto. You can either put it on Memory or Auto (if you have this). In addition, you may need to format your new memory card. This is also in your menu screen to Format Memory Card. Go ahead and do this. But be forwarned...if you do this when you have pictures on your card, it will erase all of your pictures completely. If you do those things, everything should work fine. You don't need a full charge for your camera to work, but if you have rechargable batteries, it is recommended to fully charge your camera before use. If you are using standard AA batteries this isn't necessary. Oh, and when your memory card is in the camera you should see a little icon on your LCD screen that looks like a mini memory card. This is an indicator that the camera recognizes you have the memory card in the camera and along with that will be a counter...ie 4/1200. The first number is the amount of pictures taken on the card currently and the second number is the total possible pictures you can take on the card before it is full.
Not all programmes are broadcasted in a full screen format, they may show the programme with black bars on the top & bottom or left & right sides of the screen. If you have the TV in the Auto setting for the Aspect Ratio then the picture will be displayed in that size of format relative to the broadcast. If you want to fill the screen you can try a different Aspect Ratio to one that fills the screen to a wider image if available.
You should have a button for "aspect ratio" (unsure of your brand of tv), could be marked "screen size - picture format" etc. Cycle through the sizes with this button until you come to auto or wide (set to auto to adjust the pictures to what is being transmitted - wide for a full screen but will stretch the picture to fill when transmitted in 4:3 format)
If you recieve an image with a 4:3 aspect ratio, the image will be displayed at that ratio on your HDTV unless you specify otherwise. To do so go to your TV's Setup screen
setup
Choose picture formats
select smooth wide as your default
***Some digital (ATSC format) stations may transmit 4:3 images in a way that will not allow expansion. You will be unable to adjust the picture format.
