I cannot connect. I keep getting a message "authentication Failed"

Do you connect your PC to router in an administrator role using web browser? Or do you connect some device to Wi-Fi network?

  1. Administrator role: You need to have correct login name and password for admin access. Search in manual or ask Google for default login name and password of your router type. If non-default password is set in the router then you must reset router setting and erase its settings to default (factory) status. You will lose all router configuration but default password is back.
  2. Wi-Fi client role: There are more possibilities why authentication fails in wireless communication. Mentioned error message describes what kind of problem occurred.
    (a) A password you put to client device does not match the wireless network password which is set in router. Your computer, tablet or smartphone WI-Fi interface must have exactly same password as WI-Fi network which is transmitted from router. Check and compare passwords on both sides, in client device and in router.
    (b) Client Wi-Fi interface security (encryption) mode differs from Wi-Fi network encryption used in router. But the same mode must be set on both sides (client and router) for successful connection.
Encryption modes are
  • WPA2 Enterpise
  • WPA2 PSK ("home")
  • WPA Enterprise
  • WPA PSK
  • WEP
  • No encryption (open)
Higher position - better security. Enterprise Wi-Fi modes require security devices like authentication servers, certification authorities etc. They are not used in home networks usually.

Authentication problem on icraig netbook

The wireless chipset of the laptop may not support newer encryption of your wireless router. Try changing it to WEP. If that doesn't work try disabling encryption altogether and try to reconnect.

I have a strong wi-fi connection. But when trying to get on the internet, I keep getting cannot find server or DNS error internet explorer

DNS Error Fix
In most cases, a DNS error just means that the computer is facing connectivity problems. This could be happening for a variety of reasons, especially if you are connecting to the Internet via a wireless connection. Since DNS transforms the website URL into a numerical IP address, without the DNS functioning properly, the Internet connection will be quite useless. There are a few solutions to this problem though, and none of them are too complicated in nature.
  • Locate the networking icon on your taskbar (or visit the networking tab from your 'Start' menu), and right click on it. Now select the 'Repair' option. This should be able to fix elementary DNS errors.
  • Go to the 'Start' menu and select the 'Run' option. Now type 'ipconfig/release' and hit 'OK'. This will release your old IP address. Now you need to type 'ipconfig/renew' and hit 'OK' in order to renew your current IP address.
  • You even have the option of entering your own DNS settings. If you are using a local wireless connection, you will be informed about the preferred DNS and the alternate DNS. You can alter this setting by going to the 'Properties' of your network connection.
  • You must also check if all the cables and wires are connected properly. If nothing works, then try using a different machine with the same connection.

This unit is a bare minimum netbook on windows CE. Internet explorer preloaded onto the unit is the only browser usable. So far as i can tell you cannot check for correct drivers. I don't think you can...

Base on other internet comments this system has a terrible time hooking to the Internet and staying connected even when everything is just so. You need to keep after Sylvania support as only they can fix this puppy.
Sorry, but this might be a dud.

Unable to connect to internet through Wi Fi on Nokia E65

You need to "authenticate" the wireless meaning you need the password to the web signal. Your phone may have an internal software issue in which it prevents you from connecting to the internet. Contact your phone company to trouble shoot it or get a replacement phone.

Not able to type in network key for wireless

1) If you are using the Windows Default Wireless Network Connection. Open the windows where you you will see a list of all wi-fi connections near by your location. On the left panel(Related Tasks) click on "Change Advance Settings" >> Wireless Network Connection Properties >> Click "Wireless Network" Tab >> from the Preferred Networks: list, remove the wi-fi connection you are trying to connect. Once your W-Fi connection settings are removed. You can either add it manually clicking on the Add button and entering all informaiton manually, or from the wi-fi network list click the network name it will ask you to enter the netowkr key....

OR

2) if you are using any other Wi-Fi connection application, like the Intel's, follow the same procedure. delete the settings and try connecting again.
