I followed the instructions for starting this weed trimmer but it will not start. I have checked compression, fresh gas, new fuel lines and spark plug, but it still sounds as though it wants to start but it doesn't. It fires when it is on full choke but when I move it to half choke it doesn't fire at all.

Try running on full choke until it warms up.

I have a weed eater trimmer that wont start. ben sitting for a couple years and i replaced the fuel lines andcleaned the carb. still nothing, what do i do?

Try cleaning the spark plug, make sure it sparks. Put some fresh gasoline in the tank, check start stop switch.
A easy way to check whether the problem is related to carb or not is:
remove the spark plug put some fresh gasoline in the cylinder, put the spark plug back
pull the starter a few times if it starts for a few seconds it means is related to carb.
Be carefully when handling gasoline.

CRAFTSMAN WEEDWACKER 316-791860, WILL NOT START. HAS SPARK, FUEL LINES FILL UP, WAS RUNNING FINE, DIED, STARTED NEXT AM, RAN 5 MINS THEN DIED AND WOULDN'T RESTART

Two things which may be the problem: 1) carb need to be rebuilt or replaced, and 2) you need a new spark plug. The carb with shipping is around $50.00 from sears ( http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Grass-trimmer-weed-wacker-Parts/Model-3167918602008/0247/1503820/P0805032/00001?blt=06&prst=&shdMod= ) A sparkplug can be had at any small engine repair shop and most auto parts stores for less than $5.00 Start with the cheap solution... Also make certain you have fresh gas and that the oil mix is correct.

Sounds like you need to take the carb. apart and clean it. I like to use a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), to clean the small ports in carb. they work great for this job. Make sure to either clean or replace the small screen in thcarb. as well.

My te 475 weed eater wont start

Check the on-off switch? Try disconnecting the switch and see if it starts. If it does, replace the switch.
