Locked out of the menue ,Need to reset command mode

Indeed, I did the same thing.... I did find the answer in the manual!
Here's a copy of it (pg 23):

Set the command mode for the remote so it matches
the command mode for the recorder you set above.
1 Hold down ENTER
2 While holding down ENTER, enter the
command mode code number using the
number buttons.
Command Mode Code number
DVD1 number button 1
DVD2 number button 2
DVD3 number button 3
3 Hold down both the number buttons and
ENTER at the same time for more than 3
seconds.
4 Let up, press RETURN, all done!

Sony dvd recorder rdr gx7 sending disc error message

The laser readerwriter is most likely burned out, it is the most common failure. The option of repair is not really feasible as the cost of new is really low.

I want to transfer material from video cassette to dvd. I have a Sony cassette recorder slv- se610g and a sony dvd recorder rdr-gx3. Can you please tell me how?

Though Connection details are available in DVD recorder User Manual, yet here is procedure. Find Video Audio Out terminal on Cassette Recorder SLV-SE610G and hook Yellow-Red-White cable in matching color pins and other end of cable will hook in Video Audio Input terminals at DVD Recorder RDR-GX3 and please note, same color pins will be hooked. Insert desired VHS cassette in VCR and push Playback. select input source at DVD Recorder and confirm playback picture and sound of vcr at TV. Now system is ready to record VHS movie on DVD.
