I am running mac osx, my acomdata external drive lights up when turned on. I am connected to my G5 via firewire, the drive will not show up on my desktop. I hear a slight clicking inside the drive when i put my ear to it. valuable info is stored on it, can you help?
This is the solution that worked for me.
Luckily I have another external drive of the exact same model that is working fine.
I used the power supply from the good working model and plugged it into the bad drive. The bad drive booted right up. Evidently the power supply was the issue, not the drive itself.
Even though the bad power supply had enough juice to light up the drive, it was not able to make the drive spin correctly.

I'm having a similar problem. My CD part mounts but my HD part doesn't mount. My login cannot find the HD part even though it is plugged in and running. Any advice?
