You said the carbs were cleaned.
Did it work ok after that, or is that when the problem started?
Do you use the choke to start it when cold? When warm/hot? not at all because you figure its getting too much gas as it is?
You will need to pull the spark plugs out. Check them good on the gap , wet is a sign of needing
new ones, or weak spark, black all over , replace. If they are white that is good , if they are new
and wet, that is good . If they are new plugs check gap and clean up put them into plug wire and rest end of plug up against head and crank the motor look at your spark if it is good and blue, put
them back in and it will start . If it starts, try to learn a new way to start your bike. You can do this
by before cranking make sure your battery has a full charge, some times good charge will really
make it easy to start, when it is cold outside, always pull your choke all the way out, and start your bike . when it starts quickly move your choke in to about half way, and then let it warm up, before
taking off , when you think it has warmed up within a few min. push choke all the way in, and off
you will go. Good Luck
Possibly the choke is getting stuck internally, Even thoug the leaver may be in the closed (normal) position, it may be sticking internally. Try removing the choke and cleaning the passage with some carb cleaner, then replace the lever. The bike could run with a partially cloged choke but would be tough to start when warm due to too much fuel. Another thing to check, when it is hard to start, just after kicking it over a few times, remove the spark plug and see if it is wet with gas. My guess is that's it's soaked. Good luck.
If your bike has ever sat for more than a few months at any time, the carburetors could be plugged with gasoline residue. If so, they will need to be disassembled and cleaned.
Otherwise, make sure all of the normal tune up items have been performed; valves adjusted, air filter, spark plugs, etc. And make sure there are no air leaks between the carburetors and the engine.
Finally, if the above things are all good, then I would perform a compression check. With the throttle held wide open, you should see at least 140psi of compression, on every cylinder. Anything lower than that will cause an erratic idle quality and overall poor performance.
you say its see its been serviced if i was you i would buy new plugs if that doesnt work try cleaning carbs and fuel filters and as to starting a 4 stoke they usualy need full on choke in cold weather when you buy plugs get a hotter rated plugs /before you try above take out spark plug/s and brush end that goes into engine with a small wire brush clean well then warm plugs with lighter or burner and replace then try to start bike
Check the compression. If it has low compression it will always be difficult to start.
I have the same bike. It is a really good starter, comparatively to other older 'cycles I own.
1) Check the fuel level in the tank, and be sure to turn the fuel switch (left side of bike below tank and seat) to On, or even Reserve
2) In stock tuning, my bike likes full choke for cold start, in any ambient temperature, it likes to warm up with the choke on, until it starts to sputter from the rich mixture.
3) I believe this bike has vacuume tube that goes to the fuel petcock, this shuts off fuel to carbs when bike is not running. Thus if the bike has not run in a while, or the carbs drained, it will take several start attempts to get the carb float bowls filled.
4) This bike is hard to start if the battery is old or marginally charged.
5) Also pull the spark plugs, if they are brown, or black, change them.
6) check the air cleaner, if it is too dirty it will essentially act like a choke
