Black stripe on screen at boot-up

If the external monitor looks fine, then yourlaptop's LCD display panel is bad.The inverter brd is part of the LCD display panel.

You may want to check your tv display, cable box, satellite device. If you had an HD tv make sure they display or resolution setting is set to 16:9. If you have a standard def tv, make sure it's 4:3

In LCD screens is a common problem that after setting a lower resolution than recommended you'll see a black stripe sometimes up and right, right click on any empty spot on your desktop and select properties then go to display options and move the resolution bar to a higher point and click apply also click yes in the warning display and accept.

If come across this before. If you get a blank screen or black picture, but boots up with sound, but no picture. Then resolder and/or replace IC501 & IC301. I hope this helps.

This is an old post but maybe it will help others. You will have to take the back off of the TV. On the bottom you will see ribbon cables coming from the screen and connecting to 3 PC boards. Take the screws out that holds the cable down. Underneath you will see 4 resistors marked 100. All you have to do is re-solder the resistors and your vertical line will be gone. You need to be good at soldering or you could damage the ribbon. The only ones that you have to re-solder is the ones in line with the lines on the screen.

If your disc spins and seems to load up you have a bad Video output connector problem or bad A/v Cable. If your system does not boot up, the Motherboard is shot. Click on " REpair Directory" at the bottom of this screen and find a Playstation Repair shop to help you out. They will be listed under "Video Game Consoles" in the directory.

Arte you using a cable provider? if so you should be able to adjust it to a wide screen or stretch, most cable providers are supposed to apply the settings when installing the box, so that the screen will auto fit your set, otherwise you will get image retention
