I have a maytag dryer mde5500ayw. i went to run a load, hit the button and all the LED lights went out. it acts like there is no power, but i have power from breaker to pigtail. would a blown thermal fuse cause the power outage?

AFTER A LONG TIME AND CHECKING ALL CONECTIONS IT FINALLY CAME DOWN TO THE CIRCUT BOARD. PURCHASED BOARD FROM REPAIRCLINIC.COM. EASY TO PUT IN. MY ELECTRICIAN TOLD ME BEFORE I START TO TOUCH THE WASHER GROUNDING MYSELF OUT.

OK, your control board and LED are integrated, so you will need to just replace the control board. I would try a hard reset before replacing the board. Pull the plug or, shut down the appropriate breaker switch for 5 minutes. Re apply power after the 5 minutes are up. if you continue to experience this fault, replace the control board asap.

I would say that maytag has a problem with lint collection. That is why so many thermal fuses blow and why so many people just bypass this "saftey" device rendering it more dangerous.
I would advise anyone with this model Maytag dryer to pull the front body panel and clean the lint out and then replace the thermal fuse.

you need to clean out the dryer and the vent line,the air isn't moving like it should,there is a block some where and when it heats up hotter than it should it pops the thermal fuse,if you have a long run on the vent line blow it out with a leaf blower,go outside and make sure nothing is blocking the air flow,some outside vents have cages on them so animals can't climb into the vent line,good idea but now it's a lint catch,the air can't blow out and the thermal fuse pops or the dryer takes forever to dry clothes,then clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,you shouldn't have any problems after that,clean it out at least once a year so this doesn't happen again and you won't have any dryer fires,hope this helps,good luck

The air flow past the thermal fuse is too hot. The air flow cools the heater coil area. Check the air passages from the lint filter to the heator coil housing for lint balls blocking the flow and letting the area around the fuse get too hot.
