you hit the nail on the head there,,,its the thermostat its dead!
change it they often stick in the on poshion when they stop working to save any food inside of the fridge
Unplug the unit then turn the thermostat all the way on then all the way off, then slowly move from off to fully on position do you notice a spring popping sound at a certain point? Yes No? if yes turn it all the way off and wait ten minutes then plug back on, notice if the compressor comes on or not. If it does then turn the thermostat to half way on does it cool now? if yes you have the problem solved, if not you have an issue with the defrost circuit and you need tools to test it, if you have an ohm meter let me know and I will help you further. Thanks for using fix-ya
A new thermostat is required. When you turned it down you probably broke the contact and will not re-connect. Be careful installing the new one the fine tube contains gas which is temperature sensitive. do kink or break it.
In a mini fridge there are only two wires to the thermostat. I really does not matter which wire goes were because all it does is turn it off and on. Sea Breeze
no 1 setting is close to zero degrees C the setting should be around 4 for normal every day use
call a technician to fix /replace the thermostat
if you continue to use a metal object ( screw driver , knife, fort etc ) when defrosting , you problems with the fridge will soon be over as you will puncture the evaporator section and that is not repairable so you will require a new unit
I had the same problem. Mine turned out to be the PTC starter. Checked the compressor coil resistance and it ws fine. Replaced the PTC starter with Item #: 1268268 from Repairclinc.com and it started right up. The PTC starter was an exact replacement.
Hope this helps some else trying to solve this problem. To bad Haier doesn't offer this part!!
