Best guess? It over-heated and fried the harddrive. Its toast bro, Microsoft is not going to honor any type of anything on the original X-Box anymore, no way. I have an original X-Box that works perfect, i'll sell it to you for $30 if you'd like =D

likely coincidental timing with a hardware failure likely with the cooling of the unit. if you suspect halo 3 downloaded something you can delete data from the hard drive in dahboard/my xbox/system settings/memory clear out halo 3 data or perhaps wipe/format the whole drive. more than likely the unit is overheating, try moving it to a clearer area, try pointing a fan at it (experiment with placement of the unit and any active cooling you apply) and see if the problem clears. try to clean any dust you can from the unit especially in the ventilation areas.

Strange sounds normally a hi frequency buzzing and freezing ( lockup ) and then 3 reds . The connections under the G.P.U.
are hanging on by a thread . So as the console's P.C.B. expands
and contracts you will be left with a undependable 360 or total
system failure.

Unfortunately most repair don't include replacing the x clamp
hardware after a solid re-flow with a heavy duty G.P.U. bracket
witch would eliminate 90% of the problem with regard to the
G.P.U. breaking away from the board again.

Your console needs a re-flow and a hardware up grade.

There is a product caled a C.C.A. it's a 1/8 steel plate designed to replace the x clamp retainer , for the D.I.Y.

Well if these spot are consistent on certain disks time after time it is most likely a scratch, smudge or defect on the disk. check them all for scratches and if they are dirty try to clean them very gently with a soft cloth. This would only really concern your actual console if it occurs during heavy game loading or at the same spot during a load. Try cleaning all your disks and get back to me. GL

main board . The fix is an X clamp Mod

no red lights, no previous error msgs, and video output on the box has just died. playing halo yesterday and mid-game the colours went askew (like a green overlay) with horizontal banding, backing out to the dash solved nothing so after a reboot there was simply no video. troubleshooted the tv and cables and its definately the box.
