Have you had your printer for awhile and recently upgraded your operating system to Windows 7? If so, you need to download a new printer driver (and software) from the Canon website for Win7.

I recommend that you uninstall your printer and software before re-installing the software from the following link at Canon support:

Canon MP730 Downloads

Choose your operating system (Windows 7 or Windows 7 x64) from the drop-down box.

Download the driver file and any additional software as needed.

Run the driver installation routine and follow the prompts to re-install your Canon MP730 on your computer.

Run the install routine on any additional software.

Select the required Operating Sysem to open the available downloads.

You need to download the proper drivers for this model.

If you do not have the software, you need to download the software from one of the following locations, chose your model, select OS version, and chose to download DRIVER file for your printer:

After downloading is finished, unplug the printer USB and run the software that you just downloaded.

Download the Users guide and read it, it has all the information you need. This site also has all the drivers needed as well.

It is also a good from time to time remove the ink cartridges and spray a bit of air to clean out the dust.
