You can run all 3 in series as 6 ohms but at a loss of power. Or you could get yourself a 4th speaker and pair up 2 as 4 ohms in series then combine the 2 pairs parallel and drop that pair of 4 ohms to 2 ohms as long as your wired heavy enough

You can't run parrallel on 3 single voice coil subwoofers. If you run all the negatives from each coil and possitives from each coil to one terminal you will be dividing the ohms by 3. I don't think JL ever made a single voice coil 2 ohm subwoofer though. If you ran a parrallel on 3 8 ohms you would be at 2.7 ohms. 3 4 ohm would put you down to 1.3

O ya the new ones are single. I thought you had v2's. You can't do it unfortunately unless you run multiple channels :(.

Infinity 1250 watt dual voice coil wiring diagram

how you wire it depends on your amp, I assume that the sub is a 4ohm DVC from what you have provided.
Parallel:
If you have an amp that can handle a 2ohm stable load you can connect one voice coil + and - to the amp and then run wires across the sub to the other side + to + and - to -

Series:
If your amp won't support 2 ohm you have to run it at 8ohm, to do this you connect from the amp to one + and to the - on the other voice coil on the sub, you then run a single wire between the + and - terminals .

Below are some images to help

Id say take it back to where ever you bought it from and get an exchange. Have them test it there and see if it works. I have a JL W6 and have had JL's for a long time.To hear of something like this with a new JL is very rare. Just may be some kind of defect. Bring it back, get it tested and go from there.

How to run wires is series fof 3 subs

If they are single voice coil speakers (1 positive and 1 negative terminal on each speaker) then connect from amps' Positive output terminal to spkr. 1 positive terminal, THEN spkr. 1 neg. terminal to spkr. 2 positive terminal, THEN spkr. 2 negative terminal to spkr. 3 positive terminal, THEN spkr. 3 negative terminal to amps' negative output terminal.

That is 3 speakers wired in series. if each spkr is 2ohms, then you will have a total 6 ohm load. If 4 ohm spkrs., then a total 12 ohm load, if 8 ohm spkr., then a total 24 ohm load.

Be careful because amps do not like these odd ohm load totals. You might get away with a 6 ohm total load. Depends on the amp.

I have a JL audio 12W3v2-d4 subwoofer which has two sets of terminals and i needto know how to wire them correctly as my old one only had one set of terminals . i bought it second hand and didnt get wiring...

Your amp is stable bridged mono at 2ohms, however, having dual 2ohm voice coils will drop the amp to 1ohm if parallel and will kill it. The cleanest possible way to run this amp and keep it cool with lots of headroom is to run the coice coils in series then run the amp in mono @ 4ohms. To do this, run from one voice coil to another, a jumper. connect positive from one voice coil to the neg of the other voice coil. Then connect the remaning positive on one voice coil and the neg from the other voice coil to your amp (positive left and negative right on the amp) If your amp has a switch for momo make sure it is on, some are automatic. Hope this helps

How do i hook them up to work for 2ohm's

Hello rcantu76,

If your CVR's are 2ohm (model Nr. 07CVR122), you connect the voice coils in series and then parallel both subs to the amp. If the subs are 4ohm (model Nr. 07CVR122), they cannot be wired to 2ohms. Your choices are 1ohm or 4ohms. According to Rockford-Fosgate's data on the P1000-1bd, it is stable at 1ohm.

To wire the 122's at 2ohms, you would connect the sub voice coils in series (jumper one positive to the other negative on each sub), and then connect the remaining positives and negatives to the amp.

To wire the 124's at 1ohm, you would connect all of the positives and all of the negatives together to the amp.

Hope this helps.

Wiring

Run a Jumper from coil 1 + to coil 2 + and a jumper from coil 1 - to coil 2 - and then run + from coil 1 to amp and - from coil 2 to amp. This will put your load to 3 Ohm and that will give you the most power. You could get more by going to 1 ohm but I don't think the mtx amps are stable at 1 ohm.

Jl subs not powering

Connect each speaker coil one at a time to a square 9 volt battery and watch for the cone to move.

Also try hooking another speaker to your amp just to make sure it isn't in the amp.

You can use a 9 volt battery to test wire polarity also. Hook up the + wire of the speaker to the + terminal of the battery and the - speaker to the - battery terminal. If the speaker moved UP or OUT then the wiring is correct. If it moved IN or DOWN then the + and - wires are backwards on the speaker.

Also if you have two or more speakers hooked together test all the same way while they are hooked to each other. ALL of the speakers need to move in the same direction at the same time.

Clipping causes more speaker damage than anything. "Dirty Power" can happen in good quality amps too. The gain control is to match the voltage between the headunit and the amp. It is NOT a volume or boost knob. If you overdrive the first stage of the amp and then clip it damage will occur to the amp and speakers at some point.

Hope this helps.
