SOURCE: microwave stopped working completely

Fan turned on after cooking because a thermostat got to hot and tripped turning on the fan to try to cool the unit.  The unit went completely dead when thermal fuse tripped which is located above the cavity on the left side.

SOURCE: microwave oven not functioning

Generally, the most common causes of a failure to heat are:

- bad door switches or door switch mounts
- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose connection on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

You can still use it, but must be aware that this is a relatively high power microwave, so food will burn if it isn't turned.

Whirlpool MH3184XP Microwave Turns On, Heats, but sounds like fans not working. 4 years old, fans worked fine until they seem not as loud anymore. The magnetron is working fine as it heats (did the 1 cup...

Suggest you pull the plug out, remove outer cover and place a cup of water into the micro. Set power to minimum then switch on and take note if the fan works or not. If not, switch off immediately and have it replaced(magnatron will burn out if left to run without fan.)

Heating the cup more than coffee

make sure the stirrer motor located under the outer cover that distributes the microwaves is turning otherwise you will get hot and cold spots in the oven cavity

Oven has been working fine. Heating a cup of coffee it just stopped dead. No display. Nothing. Power to outlet working fine. Is there a reset somewhere?

Mine did this when my wife had it on full power for over 10 minutes. We left it set for 15 or so minutes and it came back on. It did the same thing when my niece was heating a liquid with some metal in it. It eventually came back on. There must be a thermal circuit breaker inside the unit. Yours may have a fuse or some sort of circuit breaker inside it, that needs replacing or resetting. Then again some units have a fuse that goes out when the Magnetron shorts out, or goes bad. This would require replacing the Magnetron as well as the fuse.

The microwave stopped working

Ck your gfci breaker in your wash room or bath room. If this dosn't fix it it may be an internal fuse. If this is the case you will need to find what caused breaker to blow or it will happen again.

Microwave wont heat up

did it work later???if so the thermal cutout was hot and needed to reset otherwise it could be the fuse,h.v. diode,h.v. capacitor,or the magnetron, the first three are cheap, the mag is not,let me know

Does not cook - time counts down extremely fast

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes.

Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.
and please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.
