The best solution I found for recording a telephone conversation is a product I purchased at Radio Shack. But actually, I have replaced my Perlcorder with an HTC Hero cell phone, but any Android cell phone will do. There is an app called Ultimate Voice Recorder which is absolutely unbelievable both for its total clarity and automation. It makes ant other type of telephone recorder obsolete. With the app you get complete clarity, the call is saved to your SD card, and you can set the app to record every call, if you like.
On my model the Olympus Pearlcorder S909 there is a slide button on the end marked VCVA (variable control voice actuator). Switch it to that position then press record and away you go, voice activated recording!
