I have had a mitsubishi split system HVAC installed in my 150m apartment. It is installed inside the apartment in a small space with one window for inflow a second window for out flow. As we test the unit, 3 problems have come to our attention. (1) When it was really cold outside last Janaury the unit itself was leaking something that turned into ice. There was a pool of about 2 inches of ice on the floor and the wall had a covering and the hoses were encased in ice. The installer maintains this is normal and has built a shower pan under the unit for the inevitable flood... (2) Despite repeated efforts, the system cannot "come to temperature" my installer has set it at the highest point (28c) and turned all 5 of the thermostats to that number and we have never succeeded in making the apartment that warm. (3) The unit is very noisy.

it may be the case now, but it was not coming to temperature before the ice incident.

  • cemye Feb 16, 2009

The gas pressure has been evalated. What reasons would cause the machine to under perform?

The problem is in your Ac's compressor .It is wasting all the cooling gases and chemicals
1)the ice you are seeing is the mixture of chemical & gases when get in contact with atmospheric air it converts into ice and pls dont touch that ice as it may harm your skin
2)you are not getting the temperature you want because of same compressor problem.
3)the noisy ness is because the ice is also getting stuck in your AC and it is creating problem.
i will recommend you to call a service personnel to get it repaired.
pls rate me
thankyou

If the unit lines were frozen, try removing all ice and leaving the unit off for few hours.

If there was a leak you need to ensure that freon is fully charged.

If the compressor has not enough gas loaded , the performance will be affected, and that can be the reason for your problem.

Hi!

The sound is coming becuase the sound proof felt covering the inner parts has been ruptured and you need to replace that felt for that sound issue.

I have had a mitsubishi - 34be574.jpg
Check if alll the hoses are fine, not broken due to deposition of ice on them. To open the outer unit---

c3be27c.jpg

And for the heat issues check for the pipes inside the panel(to access them outdoor unit needs to be opened)
I have had a mitsubishi - 30f303d.jpgg src="/uploads/images/30f303d.jpg" alt="30f303d.jpg" class="h_mi" />
Also, check for the internal connectionI have had a mitsubishi - 86f291f.jpge unit.

Hi and welcome to Fixya,

You posted 3 issues:

  • leak that freezes to ice - likely water. The only possible source of water would be from the air itself. As cold air from the room is drawn into the unit, water molecules (gas form) accumulates and because of the heater turns to liquid form which then leaks down. The room (floor) has not heated up sufficiently hence the water that has leaked iced up. While condensation is normal, it is also designed that said 'leak' is meant to flow outside through a drain port/hose. Of course another possibility is for some mis-installation issue, the air-conditioner is simultaneously running with the heater;
  • insufficient heat - the basic design calls for a heater with a blower forcing cold air through it. The output would then be the warm air. After sufficient time, the unit would have warmed the air inside a closed environment. If the unit is not heating the room where its output blows, possibilities then are: the blower is drawing air from elsewhere and not from/circulating the pre-warmed air inside the room and/or the heater is cutting out early allowing insufficient time to fully warm the air. This could be due to clogged filter and/or the air pathway is incorrect;
  • noise level - the only possible sources of noise would be the fan blades hitting the shroud/bracket and/or the motor/compressor faulty rubber support, bothy mechanical issues which should have been addressed when the unit was installed. It is also possible that an erroneous level/installation could have contributed/caused the noise.
Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

What is the difference between a ducted and non ducted Domestic Air Conditioner?

Ducted A/C has an internal fancoil unit installed in the roof space of the home. From this central location, a series of ducts run from it and into as many rooms in the house as the owner desires. From these ducts, this allows you to cool or heat each room individually ā€“ called zoning
Split systems stand out for their relatively low initial purchase price. Another perk is that the installation is not so invasive ā€“ it can often be done in a day or less from a licensed technician. Though, being that the unit is fairly small, it is best suited to cooling or heating one room ā€“ this is either a positive or negative depending on how you look at it. On one hand, itā€™s an efficient option if you only need to cool or heat one room, but on the other hand they are less effective in larger spaces. Rarely could a split system air conditioner cool or heat an entire home. Split system air cons are great options for small areas, but lack the power to affect larger spaces ā€“ this is reflected in their relatively cheap purchase price, from around $1,000-$2,000.

Mitsubishi

I've read and heard from local techs that the Mitsubishi (along with lots of other mini split brands), are known for the indoor coil leaking freon. Even after a fee years of working great! Have them serviced. They are probably low on refrigerant. Try checking the trouble codes on the remote.

What is hvac

Hi, Hvac that i know is (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) refers to technology of indoor or automotive environmental comfort. HVAC system design is a major subdiscipline of mechanical engineering, based on the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer. Refrigeration is sometimes added to the field's abbreviation as HVAC&R or HVACR, or ventilating is dropped as in HACR (such as the designation of HACR-rated circuit breakers).

HVAC is important in the design of medium to large industrial and office buildings such as skyscrapers and in marine environments such as aquariums, where safe and healthy building conditions are regulated with temperature and humidity, as well as "fresh air" from outdoors.

Heating, ventilating, and air conditioning is based on inventions and discoveries made by Nikolay Lvov, Michael Faraday, Willis Carrier, Reuben Trane, James Joule, William Rankine, Sadi Carnot, and many others.

The invention of the components of HVAC systems went hand-in-hand with the industrial revolution, and new methods of modernization, higher efficiency, and system control are constantly introduced by companies and inventors all over the world. The three central functions of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning are interrelated, providing thermal comfort, acceptable indoor air quality, within reasonable installation, operation, and maintenance costs. HVAC systems can provide ventilation, reduce air infiltration, and maintain pressure relationships between spaces. How air is delivered to, and removed from spaces is known as room air distribution.[1]

In modern buildings the design, installation, and control systems of these functions are integrated into one or more HVAC systems. For very small buildings, contractors normally "size" and select HVAC systems and equipment. For larger buildings, building services designers and engineers, such as mechanical, architectural, or building services engineers analyze, design, and specify the HVAC systems, and specialty mechanical contractors build and commission them. Building permits and code-compliance inspections of the installations are normally required for all sizes of buildings.[citation needed]

The HVAC industry is a worldwide enterprise, with career opportunities including operation and maintenance, system design and construction, equipment manufacturing and sales, and in education and research. The HVAC industry had been historically regulated by the manufacturers of HVAC equipment, but Regulating and Standards organizations such as HARDI, ASHRAE, SMACNA, ACCA, Uniform Mechanical Code, International Mechanical Code, and AMCA have been established to support the industry and encourage high standards and achievement.

Hope is the one your talking about.

Can anyone tell me what is the name of the part that the cold water pipe feeds into immediately as it goes into the machine? It's split as a result of the recent cold spell. I've tried looking for the part...

The cold water feed pipe is attached to the inlet solenoid valve. That's a nylon-looking body with a threaded inlet to which you connect the hose. If the nylon is cracked, you need a new valve, which costs about Ā£20 incl P&P
for an equivalent from Ransom Spares, part no. RS122987
https://www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/brands/hoover/washing-machines/hc6150muk/

REMINDER: Disconnect from power supply and ensure water is securely turned OFF before you dismantle the machine !
To avoid further frost damage, turn off the water and disconnect the pipe in cold weather. A more convenient solution would be a small thermostatic electric space heater to warm the area when it gets cold.

There is one last step. There is a possibility that after installing xp or linux that your Vista will not be in the boot manager.

6. Pop in the windows vista cd, boot the pc off the cd, After the cd boots up click on the fix button. The fix utility will take care of the system files that enable you to choose which os to load when the pc is turned on.
