I would reset to factory settings, You can remove the battery and any memory cards/media that may be in it and see if that resets it. Usually there is a sequence that resets everything to factory defaults as other mentioned above.

THe issue may not actually be software related. There may be faulty hardware such as a chipset and they aer known to go bad by Panasonic and have thus done a recall/free replacement of the part due to customer complaints.

I would call there customer support and inquire, some times you can sweet talk them into giving you a free shipping code to use through UPS. Sony did this with my playstaion two when i discovered a major desighn flaw and they wanted to shut me up about it. They bassically paid to replace most of the parts and even paid for the shiping to California.

Be sure to remove any Memory/media from it before sending it off, you may not get it back. Dont send all the accesories either, just the power cord and the camera and put a list of the contents in the box so that way whatever tech works on it, remembers to include it back in.

The cool thing is, if they cant fix it they may send you a newer model.

Good luck

Hi....Take the battery out and turn selection switch to camera and then turn it off. Put the battery back in and its working again.if that doesn't work try
Try smacking the side of the camera relatively hard with the palm of your hand. Eject the tape and reinsert. You may need to do this a couple of times.
thank u!!

From what I understand with this problem is that you should send it to Panasonic repair department. It seems like they are trying to resolve this issue with alot of the same camcorders, and they are offering free charge on it. You only pay the shipping. I know this doesnt help you, but on there site is says that they have had a lot of problems with this unit. Good day

Go to setting menu, there the last command in list should be reste to factory,, tryy also removing and replacing batteries.

If you go to the camcorder settings menu, and you scroll down, you will fine a 'reset to factory default' command.
    Try first resetting with menu.

If that does not work, try removing the batteries for five minutes, this will also reset the camcorder, as this device does not have any other internal battery.

Panasonic pv gs29

Our model numbers in South africa are nv-gs47 etc. I know that all the new models like the pv-gs29 you dont have to use the firewire port on the camera, it is better to use the usb port because it is usb 2 you can do video streaming. The usb port is also more reliable than the dv port.So just check in the manual if this unit can use the usb port instead. i am more than sure it can.
