Akai PDP4294 42 in. EDTV-Ready Plasma

I can't find the port to plug in my blu ray player. I have an HD cable that looks something like a computer plug but there is no place I can find on the tv to plug it in. I am now using the colored coded wires (It is a flat wire with three plugs on each end) and it is not the one they tell me to use for the best picture. Any ideas? and Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, that model only has a VGA input. Unfortunately, you are stuck using composite, component, svideo, or VGA video inputs.

Is there any way to connect this monitor to a computer that only has an hdmi port

An HDMI to RCA component or composite cable only works for video projectors that are designed to read a computer signal. TVs, Blu-ray players, and DVD players use a different format compared to computers. You need an HDMI to RCA converter. An example is available here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/770115-REG/KanexPro_HDRGBRL_HDMI_to_Component_Converter.html .

I hope this helps.

Akai TV: HDMI port?

Have a look on either the side or back. It looks like a USB but a different shape. If the TV is really old it may not have one

How to connect blu ray player hdmi to my laptop

1) Look at your laptop computer to see if you have an HDMI cable port. This port is roughly half an inch wide and provides both the HD audio and video signal. If you don't, you are going to use a DVI port on the laptop. This is the same port you use to connect monitors to your computer.

2) Plug the DVI-to-HDMI adapter into the DVI port on the laptop with the Blu-ray player. If you have an HDMI port on your laptop, you can skip this step.

3) Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI end of the adapter. If you have an HDMI port, plug the cable directly into the HDMI port.

4) Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the HD television. Power on your television, press the "Input" button and select "HDMI." You can now see the contents from your Blu-ray player on the TV.

I need to know what input & output connections are available on the Akai PDP4290 Plasma TV?

This was the cheapest Akai in its day. No Tuner, No Speakers, must use a surround sound or regular stereo amp for sound.
It also has the standard A/V input also.
Best to use a HD Box and RGB cables for best picture.
