The scales display EE as they are reading a negative weight.

With the scales switched OFF place 2 glass plates on the scales and press ON.

The scales should now display 0g.

If this doesn't work add more weight and try again.

There is also 4 screws on the underside of the scales which hold the weighing bar in place, if you loosen the 2 smaller screws this should relieve some of the stress so less weight is needed to zero the scales.

I just changed the batteries in my Salter scale 2010 and I get: EE. Do you know what that means and how I can get the scale to work? Thanks

The EE code means there is an error, possibly because the replacement batteries are defective or installed incorrectly.

My Salter Model 2001 kitchen scale, shows an 'ee' on the screen. This error code is not listed in the manual. Any suggestions?

"EE" means that the scale has been overloaded. Try placing a small weight (i.e. 250g block of butter) on the scale and then turning the scale off and then on again with the small weight still on the scale. What this does is to try and re-calibrate the scale. If this doesn't work then I am pretty certain that the scales will need to be replaced. The scales in question do have a 15 year guarantee and you can try contacting Salter Housewares directly if you have your proof of purchase.

I changed the battery on bathroom scale Salter 987

I had the same problem with my Salter 987 scale. Pull the battery out for about 10 seconds and put it back in. Then push the scale once so it turns on. After the blinking stops, push it once more. The scale will now zero itself. After the scale has zero'd itself it may turn off after a brief moment. It's now ready to use normally. If you're standing on the scale when it's trying to calibrate to zero, it will assume your weight is zero. Don't stand on the scale after replacing the battery untill you first complete the steps listed above.
