JVC HD DILA 56G886. replaced lamp and now it shuts down after 10

I just replaced the lamp for my JVC HD 56G886. It now shuts down after about 10 minutes. The screen goes black and the power button blinks rapidly even after the mirror stops spinning.

We found that it is an auto shut off system on the TV due to over heating. The lamp, if not cooled correctly shuts down. We added a mini fan in the back and it seems to work fine now.

    if your tv over heating you need a more open space. and also when you replace the lamp you need to goto ~menu, on the television's remote then scrool to and select "lamp timer reset." press "ok" to rest the timer. a prompt will apper notifying you that the timer has successfully been reset.~ i didn't do that before when i bought a new lamp. it blew in couple of weeks and had to replace it again. and had somebody come out to tell me i had to hit menu and let the tv know there a new lamp.

Jvc tv wont come on.

your lamp is burned out-easy and fairly cheap fix. Order a new lamp and install it according to the instuctions sent with the lamp.Dont believe that you need to take it to a service to have it fixed, this should be less than $150 fix-good luck

Have black dust looking spots on my screen.

Howdy;
Yes there is a way. The easiest for you would be to remove the back top of the TV. That will give acess to opt lense and mirror. But first check the Lamp and inspect the lense that the Lamp into. It does not take a lot to cause your concern. Use super soft cloth and wipe surfaces.

Good Luck,Big Irish.

Call your cable company, the lamp has nothing to do with the inputs, Maybe one of the connections is barely connected from moving the TV to replace the lamp.

Dark Screen

The lamps in these normally last about 3000 hours (if your really lucky). The bulb will start to loose it brightness as a matter of due course at about the halfway mark. It maybe that you are running the unit in the non economy mode that they are fading faster then normal.
The sets have a reputation for not being good with lamps though.

Have a look at the lamp though, make sure it has been off for at least an hour to let it properly cool and check for dust that has settled on it. Also if you wipe the lamp, make sure it is with a dry cloth, or allow plenty of time for any moisture to completly dry before turning it on if you use a damp cloth.
