Hello Richard,
The problem is almost certainly caused by the flipper mechanism being unable to initialise to its home position rather than a card jammed in the flipper. Error 18:01 means the home sensor was blocked for more than 4 seconds (it should clear at the home position).
Your printer is almost certainly covered by UltraCover Plus warranty, so I suggest you should drop us an email at;

[email protected]

Quote the printer's serial number in your email.

I'm sure we will be able to resolve the problem very quickly.

MC.

SOURCE: Flipper Error

Hi There,

Can you let me know the error number?
It should look like '200:??' or similar. This number tells you exactly what was happening before the error occured.

Where exactly has the card stopped when you get the error?
Is the blank side facing up or down?

Here's a few things to check;

NOTE: Later models of the Tango 2 printer has a white Mylar shim fitted to the end of the platen (where it exits the print engine to the flipper unit. This is very easy to fit. Magicard can supply you with this if you need it. This shim prevented the card hitting the card front sensor when it was fed back to the platen from the flipper to print the card back.

Remove the square panel in front of the lid latch (it slides to the back and lifts out). Check that the Black rubber roller is in the center of the card path. Sometimes it can move to the left.

Turn the flipper round by hand. There is a white nylon roller on the underside. This is held against the Black rubber roller by a flat sprung metal plate. Sometimes the ends of the spring can distort if the flipper had two cards at the same time (check the thickness adjuster behind the Black cleaning cassette.

Lastly, is the front fascia in line with the printer's side panels? If the fascia is loose and is sitting higher, this can cause the flipper to jam (the card hits the card exit molding while flipping.

Make sure you have the latest firmware installed. The firmware version is displayed during boot up. It is also printed on the internal test card if you press the test button on the back.

Latest version is currently V2.05. You can download this here.

Let me know if any of the above helps.

Regards,

MC.

HID Fargo dct4500 flipper not flipper the card.

If it is printing only the front of the card, then ejecting normally:
  • check all of your settings in the driver, as well as your card-printing software, specifically those that specify single- or dual-sided (duplex) printing. Make sure they're set for 2-sided printing.
  • Also check that you specifying printing both front-side and back-side of the card, etc
  • Make sure your card design is for a 2-sided card.
If the card enters the flipper, but gets stuck (doesn't flip), and does not eject, then you may have a fault with the flipper module itself. There is a diagnostic program freely available (the Fargo Workbench Utility) directly from the manufacturer's website at www.hidglobal.com. Download and install it on your PC. It includes a printer information section that can calibrate sensors, film, etc., and also can send direct commands to the flipper to level itself ("home the flipper table"), as well as step it in either direction.

If you have an issue that is not addressed by these built-in calibrations and other tests, then your unit may need service from an authorized repair facility, like Safe-Card ID Services.

"Flipper Jammed (06.11)"

Hello Julie,
I'm presuming that this is in fact a Tango 2e model given the error number (06:11).
If this is an older Tango 2e printer, then the problem could be due to a build-up of old grease on the flipper shaft. The problem is often accompanied with a loud buzzing noise when the stepper motor stalls.
If you follow the instructions in this document very carefully;

http://www.magicardonline.net/temp/flipper_jam.pdf

You will be able to clean off the old grease, and apply a tiny drop of fresh general-purpose grease. The whole process should take no more than a few minutes.

Let me know if you have any problems.

Kind Regards,

MC.

Card would not eject properly

error 68 mean the card is jam in the print station or in the flipper area.
you either clean the card part and flipper very well.or you may need to change it.

Flipper jammed 06:06

Hello ortunosergio,I'm guessing that since you have the error code, that this is a Tango 2e model. Flipper Jam 06:06 means the printer did not see the flipper's rotation sensor clear while rotating the card. There can be many different causes for this error, some depend on the age of the printer.
To get a better view of what is happening, open the lid and slide the small filler panel (front / top of printer) towards the rear. Then lift it up and remove it. Remove the dye film if it is fitted. Close the lid. Switch off the printer. Remove the rear card hopper. Have a single card ready to manually insert into the rear of the printer (see below).
On the rear of the printer, press and hold in the small test button above the Ethernet socket. At the same time while holding in the test button, switch on the printer (keep holding the test button). When the printer says 'Soak Test' on the front panel, let go of the test button. When prompted, manually push the single card into the rear of the printer. The printer will now cycle through the card transport / flip / return. Watch very carefully while the flipper is rotating the card. Is the card hitting something? Are there any strange noises (a loud buzzing noise would indicate the flipper card transport stepper motor was stalling. Is it possible maybe to take a photo of exactly the position of the card when the error happens?
In the meantime, check the following;

  • Check that the Black rubber roller is in the centre of the flipper mechanism (this can sometimes move to the left-hand side).
    With the printer switched off;

  • Manually rotate the flipper so you can see the White nylon roller on the underside. Check that the leaf spring has not been bent out of position (happens if there have been double card feeds - check card thickness adjuster at the rear '30' = 0.76mm card thickness).
  • This one may sound strange, but it makes a difference; The front fascia panel must be level with the two long side panels. Even just 2mm too high will cause the card to hit the fascia panel. It can be gently tapped down using the palm of your hand. If necessary, remove the side panels to access the front fascia fixing screws (4). A 5.5mm nut spinner is useful here.

What would be extremely useful would be if you could shoot a small video showing the error as it happens (during the soak test maybe).

Finally, check your printer's warranty status here;

http://www.magicardonline.net

If it's under warranty, then it can be returned for repair free of charge (excluding shipping).

Let me know what you find.

MC.

Have tried to tape, wind, etc. as shown in the instruction manual but it repeatedly breaks. Interestingly enough when it does break it is always on the yellow panel which is entirely imprinted on the...

Ribbon breaks on those older models are usually traced back to only a couple of things.

1. The ribbon-type may be set incorrectly in the printer driver. The C30 and C30e color ribbon type if doing single- or dual-side printing in full-color is #044200 - YMCKO; the ribbon type if doing dual-side printing with full-color front and black-only back is #044210 - YMCKOK. Open the driver, then "Printing Preferences", select the "Device Options" tab and verify that the ribbon type setting matches what you're using. Note that you can only make a change to the setting if you have sufficient (Admin) Windows privileges.

2. There is a mechanical issue with the printer, where an o-ring is broken, or the head-lift motor has gone out. Either is very bad, as the printer has long been out of production and parts are no longer available. (But you can contact us for a replacement - new or refurbished!)

Good luck!

A simplex printer can print 2 sided cards you need a duplex upgrade kit. Its is a mechanical "card flipper" that is to be installed in the printer.

White card keeping jamming in the middle everythine

Hi gigi_airambu,

The card jam, often caused by cards are jamming on or at the flipper table. Here are additional steps that you can apply to resolve this issue.

1. Verify that the Card Feed Roller on the Flipper table is not running backwards. (Note: Having an Encoder installed in the Printer will determine the direction that the Card Feed Roller on the Flipper Table will rotate.)
2. Open the Top Cover and remove any cards that are jammed inside the Printer.
3. Reset power on the Printer to clear any error messages that are on the LCD.
4. Press the MENU button on the LCD.
5. Press the Down Arrow button and select PRINTER SETUP.
6. Scroll through the menu and select ENCODER SETUP.
7. Ensure that the appropriate Encoders settings are set to Installed or None, based on the options that are installed in the Printer.
8. Press the Save button to save any changes that have been changed.

Hope it helps.

Hi You can Try

Same old Error Code 5100
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.
