Hello, I have an O2 XDA Atom Exec. The phone works normally untill the power button is pressed, after which the screen fails to come on again. But the phone seems to be working in the background, as when I dial my number from another phone, I can hear the bell ringing, but the phone itself fails to play the ringtone nor am I able to receive the call. The only way out is to do a soft-reset after which the phone is completely normal till I press the power button again. Any sugestions?
Hello, I have an atom exec too. My phone has the same problem with doc_aamir's problem. When I press the power button, phone is getting sleeping mode, thats ok. But when I call my number from another phone I can hear the bell is ringing but the o2 atom fails to play ringtone. So I can't hear the receiving call. When I press the power button again cause of open sleeping mode and finding number from the contacts list, working too slow and waiting 40 seconds. Is there any solution ? Thank you for interest. At the expense of your data-loss,
atleast you get your device working back.
To perform a hard-reset on your O2 Xda Atom,
Keep pressed the POWER key, and then perform soft reset. After the device this leave everything and confirm that you want to hard-reset as shown on the screen.
To perform a hard reset, use the stylus while pressing into the reset
hole, press the power on/off button at the same time. Screen will
prompt you to press the Green call and Red end call button together to
confirm on hard resetting the device. Hard resetting the device will
cause the device to be reset back to its original factory default
settings and all data will be lost.
I had the same problem. The issue seems here that the battery keeps getting honked off. I changed my charger and did a defragment and also did some files sytem clean up using Pocket mechanic. That solved the problem.
Couple of things you can try to fix the issue, firstly try a hard reset

Try that and if it doesnt resolve the issue then we can try another solution
please Hard Reset and find the Network Automatically. and make sure the Phone is on in the wireless manager.
Otherwise there might be a Hardware problem!!
Go to boot loader on your O2 XDA atom by removing batt+pressing camera button+plugging in the batt back WHILE still press holding the cam button the ue the stylus to press soft reset button, then connect to your pc via usb, then run the update program (most refer to it as DSUU, u can download one from seeo2.com) just wait for the progress to complete and you're done.
if in case you get stuck at 6%, unplug usb cable, remove battery, then insert battery while press holding the power button, while still holding the power button, press the reset button with the stylus, it should show the o2 splash, wait for any progress. then re-run the DSUU again to perform full flash.
Good luck!
disclaimer:
please take note that i did not suggest any 3-party rom, it is best if you try the O2-released ROM (or DSUU).
The Black screen that you are talking about is the bootloader of your PPC. Its just like the BIOS of your Computer.
There might be some problem with the Operating system of your O2 Atom Exec.
Try a hard reset by holding the Power Key and then soft reseting.
I know that you will lose your data, but you may get your PPC working back.
I have the same problem. What I did several time is to actually shut down the phone, remove the battery and leave it like that for several hours (3 to 4 hours). Then, I put the battery back in the phone, and it would charge again. However, due to the long time with no battery, the phone's clock would be reset to January 2007.
I found no other work around right now. However, I have to do this more and more often, almost once a week ...
