SOURCE: service engine soon light come on

There are TONS of reasons - the first , and least expensive, step is to read the codes that the onboard computer is throwing. Instead of spending a lot of money on a code reader, or wasting money by going to the dealership, find an AUTOZONE (or, sometimes MERCHANT's will offer a "we'll check your CHECK ENGINE LIGHT for free) and they'll give you a generic read of the code(s).
I say "generic" because the computer DOES throw specific codes; the "we'll do it free" places usually don't have the same kinds of super-readers that the dealerships or high-end repair shops own. But, bear with me for a sec....this may save you some money.
If the generic code says, "O2 sensor"....that's not as specific as you'd like (because there are multiple 02 sensors!)...BUT....if ONE sensor is not functioning properly, its a pretty good bet that the other(s) will be failing soon too, since they were all installed at the same time and all were made by the same company, etc.
The "generic" code WILL tell you enough info as to which sensor is bad (the one in front of the converter vs the one behind the converter) so....if THAT is the code, then simply replace both behind or both "in front". Follow?
Now, where you'll typically get the most common code is for low fuel pressure. If you've never changed your fuel filter...that's a good place to start. The "generic" code will indicate "fuel pressure". If you've never changed the filter....see? BUT, a fuel pressure problem could also be as simple as "loose gas cap"! If your generic code says "fuel pressure", then I'd reset the computer (disconnect the battery for a few minutes and re-connect), and while the battery is disconnected, make sure that the gas cap is tight and the little rubber gasket around the cap is in tact.
Keep in mind....a "check engine light" doesn't mean that your computer is throwing codes CONSTANTLY! It means that the computer sensed something at some point while the scan was running and SOMETHING got its attention. "IF" the fuel cap was loose, for example, just re-tightening it will not reset the "check engine light"! You gotta reset the computer (disconnecting the battery is easiest), THEN the light will be off. If the light returns, then the problem was something other than the gas cap.
Taking your time and doing a little on-line research can save you a ton of money! A 2000 is relatively easy to work on yourself...at least SOME of the issues...even if you're not a really techie-kinda person. Take the easy and inexpensive shots first....
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Rapping/ticking sound in my 2001 Chevy tracker engine.

does it go tick tick tick tick and when it warms up it stops or goes quiet?
its your lifters not getting enough oil
when u change your oil it will stop till that oil gets worn out
you will have to replace the lifters or it can also be a slack oil pump not pumping oil around the engine like it should

SOURCE: I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY BLAZER MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON

The warning lights are telling you that something is malfunctioning. As long as the warning lights are "ON" you can take it to most major auto parts stores and they will scan it for free, and if the guy that scans it has any automotive knowledge, he'll be able to tell you what is wrong and how/ how much to fix it.
Once you get the codes that the computer is giving, it'll be easier to diagnose your problem, and there are lots of guys on the website who'll be more than happy to tell you how to fix it.

2001 Chevy tracker 2.0 run ideal but when start down the road melts 1coil

It sounds like your 2001 Chevy Tracker with a 2.0 liter engine may be experiencing a problem with the ignition system. If one of the coils is overheating and melting, it is likely that there is a fault with that particular coil or with the circuit that supplies power to it.
Some potential causes for this issue include:
  • A faulty ignition coil
  • A short circuit in the wiring to the ignition coil
  • A malfunctioning ignition control module
  • An issue with the spark plugs or ignition wires
I recommend having a mechanic diagnose the issue in order to determine the root cause of the problem and recommend the necessary repairs. It is important to address any issues with your vehicle as soon as possible to avoid further damage and to ensure your safety while driving.

Service engine soon light on on my 03 chevy tracker 2.0 liter engine. Still runs good. tried to reset by disconnecting battery, but light comes back on after running a few miles. what can i check?

You'll have to have it checked to see WHY the light came on to begin with in order to get it to go out. The light will keep coming on as long as the computer is still detecting a problem. Most large chain auto parts stores will be able to check it for you.

My 2001 Chevy Tracker quits running after a while and will restart after about 10-15 minutes. It originally runs rough after it restarts. I have been told to replace the camshaft sensor. Also, when I...

Had the same problem with my tracker. Replaced the camshaft position sensor(easy to do yourself, takes about five mins.) Now can drive at highway speeds for about a half hour and stop at the gas station and she'll start back up and run fine. Before i had to wait at least 15-20mins before she would start. Also, if your service engine soon light is on take it to the national chain auto parts stores and they will hook up the code reader for free. The sensor runs about $120.

Just had a cam shaft sensor put in my 2000 chevy tracker and my service engine soon light came back on vehicle runs fine

You should disconnect the battery cables, negative cable first then disconnect the positive cable from battery and wait ten minutes (this is a good time to clean the terminals and connectors at tis time). The check engine light should be reset and disappear if all is well.

Chevy tracker 4 cyl 4wd 2003

Most major auto part chain stores have a loaner code scanner (they require you to leave your ID while you use the tool in their parking lot). There is a connector under the dash near on the drivers side that accepts the reader....check the codes and Google them for repair info or post them back here.
