Hi I recently received an Ipod Nano from a friend and I set it up and everything worked great. I just locked the screen and I can't unlock it. I called my friend and he said that he forgot the 4 digit combination. Does anyone have a quick fix for this?

Connect your iPod to the computer and wait until your itunes detects it. 3. I had the same problem and looked all over the internet and saw those same answers. Ok that won't work. This is what you need to do. I have Vista by the way.
1)connet ipod to computer
2)open itunes
3)got to top of page, click on the store drop down menu and click "authorize computer"
4) next you need to go start menu and click on my computer
5) click on your ipod
6)open the folder that says ipod controls. (This is where I got lost- if you don't see it you need to switch it to classic view- go to organize and click the folder and search options. Under the general tab switch it to windows classic folders. then click the ipod contols option
7) you will see a folder that says "locked". right click it and change "locked" to "unlocked". Thats it.
pretty simple when you do it, you won't lose anything on your ipod. hope it helps you.
Ok here is the solution for unlocking ur apple ipod
1- click on ur ipod folder
2-next click on ipod control folder (which is hidden just make it unhide)
3-next click on device folder .in device folder there will be a file named _locked .just delete that file and ur ipod will be unlocked .....

Ok plugging it into your computer wont help i locked mine and i cant remember my password and it is plugged in now it wont work bc its LOCKED ok im tired of hearing you just need to plug it in u problay need to call itunes and have them help u or u most likely wont fix it ok?

Haha i did the same basically go onto your ipod on my computer then go onto ipod control, then device then there should be a file called lock-DELETE IT dw it doesnt mess up ur ipod u can still lock it if u want to. wait for ur ipod to sync then unplug it wolla it should work :D hope this helps it worked for me

Connect to the computer and on the sync screen click restore this will reset all your settings and songs so make sure you got all your songs from that source
All u have to do is plug in ur ipod nano to ur computer get itunes opened and then itunes will automatically unlock ur ipod. trust me it works. :)

When connect ipod to computer, go to my computer. Click on ipod:-
-click on tools, go to folder options
-go to view tab
-check show hidden files
-a ghost like folder will apear: ipod control
-click on it and go to device
-there will be a locked file
-click and delete it

The only way to get rid of the password is to do a "Factory Reset" which will delete everything on the iPod. You hook it up to the computer and then when you select the iPod in the "source" panel of iTunes, select the "Summary" tab. There should be a "Restore" button. i saw this video from metacafe.... all u need to do is connect your ipod to the computer then go to mycomputer and open the drive for ipod(e.g. My Ipod(E:))
after that you should view all hidden files.. you can do this by changing it from the folder options that can be found on the tools menu... you will then see a translucent folder named ipod_control open this and go to device... rename the file _locked to _unlocked... disconnect and its done!!!!
