Hitachi 750 GB HT0LMNA7501BBB Shows up on my mac, but will not open. Whenever I click on it all I get is the "spinning wheel of death". I really need to access the files on the HD. What should I do?

When I plug my HD into my mac it fires up and the blue indicator light turns on. It also shows up on my desktop. However, when I try to open it, all I get is the spinning wheel thing, and my computer freezes for a bit. The notification also comes up that the drive was improperly ejected. I tried using a new USB cable but the same problem still occurs.

It's likely you will need data recovery help. And you may need to send it to a data recovery lab but as a first step I would suggest an online data recovery service like http://FreeDataRecovery.us

SOURCE: hard disk acess problem

Hi, What the message mean is that Windows can not read/understand the filing system (something like the Table of Contents in a book) and therefore do not which and where are your files in the 80Gb. A few things you can try: 1. Run Windows Scandisdk on the Hitachi 80Gb; 2. Run any third party disk check/utility such Norton Disk Doctor. Alternately, you can use a file recovery software (such as GetDataBack) to recover/copy all your important files from the 80Gb and transfer them to another mass storage device. Thereafter, you can re-partition and re-format the said Hitachi to start new/fresh/clean. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turnes up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
