Engine runs but won't generate any electricity

Midwest USA... A working generator in good running condition should sell for around $0.05 a watt +-, so 7500x0.05= $375. Excellent condition add a penny. NOS add another penny.

A working generator in poor condition 3 cents/watt.

A generator that doesnt work, i.e. engine doesn't run or engine runs but no electrical power is $0 to $50. Repair costs of some generators cost more than a new one.

As for operational status, the typical shop vacuum makes a handy load tester. The shop vac load along with a "Kill A Watt" power monitor will provide an independent voltage and frequency analysis.

Be sure to plug the vacuum into every outlet and if any outlet doesn't work consider the unit non-working.

However, describing it as the PowerMate 6250 10 HP generator is insufficient to find the correct manual. The Coleman PowerMate line has several models with 10 HP engines and a 6250 Starting Watt (5000 W running) capacity.

try starting fluid. The float on carb is probably stuck'

Make sure the governor is working properly. When you put a load on it the engine should increase in speed slightly. Make sure the engine is running at the correct speed 3600 rpm. Try plugging in an item that draws less power such as a electric drill and see how the generator behaves. Also make sure the engine runs smooth while not under any load. Check the voltage from the outlet to make sure it is putting out 132 volts not under load.

I hate to ask,is there oil in it?There's a shut off for low oil level,it's to save the engine from starving for oil.

The carburetor is probably clogged up. Mix a bottle of carburetor cleaner with the gas to see if that would help. Also check/replace the fuel filter.
