My xbox will not read the games

This is similar to a problem I have, the best thing to do is to keep openening and closing the disc tray untilll it reads. Otherwise, clean the disc

When it says play dvd, it just randomly doesn't recognize that it's a game. Press A and you'll enter the game.
When it doesn't recognize the disc all together, I'd suggest cleaning the disc with an anti-static cloth then putting the disc back in.

This is a problem occurring in all the xbox 360 consoles....... this is mainly because of the poor quality of the disc.....as a result it leads to the damage of ur xbox lens..............use good original discs........the heating effect is due to the long usage of pirated discs ...

So it is the open tray problem then??... You will have to open your xbox and follow the instructions below on youtube, the problem is mechanical, your lazer is stuck in the far back position away from the cd so it cant read or recognize that there is a disc in the drive but it is an easy fix....... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycuvX7x1HJk&feature=watch_response

THINGS TO TRY Here are some things that you can do to try to fix the problem or to determine what caused it.

Determine whether the disc is dirty or damaged Discs that are smudged, scratched, or otherwise damaged cannot be read by the Xbox 360 console. You will want to examine the disc to see whether it has smudges, scratches, or other damage. To do this, follow these steps: 1. Examine the disc for dirt or damage: a. Pick up the disc by its edges. Do not touch the top or bottom surface. b. Examine the shiny side of the disc to make sure that the disc is clean and has no damage.
NoteScratches that follow the curve of the disc are very damaging and prevent a disc from being read. If your disc has even one of these kinds of scratches, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 2. If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by hand: • Use a soft, clean, dry, chemical-free cloth to clean the disc. • Lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward. 3. After you clean the disc, try to load it in the Xbox 360 console. If the disc still will not load or you receive the same error message, the disc is damaged, and you will no longer be able to play it. If this is the case, see step 4. 4. if you are using latest games then these latest games support High Defination Graphics..which are now not supported by old XBOX console....i suggest you before buying the latest game cd you should take a details of minimum requirement for game...you can find out through Internet also

i am pretty sure that an arcade can only play games rated e for everyone

When this starts happening, it appears that you have a problem with the DVD player. You could try to buy a DVD lens cleaner (it looks like a CD with a little brush on it), but I suspect you may ahve to take it to an authorised service technician to get the DVD unit replaced.
