Whilst printer in a cleaning cycle, it suddenly stopped with paper and ink red LEDs flashing alternate. The ink cartridge carriage is jammed solid. I can't slide it along the rail manually. I have removed the ink cartridges. The carriage is stuck in the cleaning position to the very right of the printer. If I turn the printer off/on then the power LED lights up green for about a second then there is a slight clunk as the printer tries to move the cartridge carriage and fails, then the light s start flashing as above. There is a slight motor humm as though its trying to move something stuck ... Anybody any ideas?
The cleaning unit may still be engaged with the cartridge carriage. There may be a release mechanism on the side of the cleaning unit. The cover will have to be removed to see if that is the case. Another cause could be that the shaft or rail that the carriage travels on is quite dirty. It can be cleaned with alcohol to remove the dirt. That might be what is loading down the motor. Good Luck.

Ye of course it could be faulty and Epsons are sometimes very fussy about using third party carts. Get it replaced at your store, try a different brand or buy a genuine Epson cart if you can afford it.

Include the printer. Press and hold the buttons STOP, MANITENANCE ("drop") and POWER whereupon switch off feeding.
