The red and white are the audio, and the yellow is the video, check the back of the tv to make sure the yellow jack states input, if yes make sure the tv is set to aux/or video.
If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. you don't need a code for the vcr/dvd combo to work on your tv. You need to make sure you have hooked up the cables correctly. remember that the dvd can be hooked up with the component cabels and the vhs may need to be hooked up thru the tv cable hookup.
first you do connect cable to your > combo VCR / DVD player & recorder then connect to > to your TV: cable coax output or if that cable have video/audio ouput is going to INPUT >to combo VCR / DVD player video / audio output is going to INPUT > to TV,.that's the time you can record and playback; click below for more information in hooking up:
Hmmmm...I dont understand exactly what you are saying, but it sounds like your TV doesnt have RCA ports and you want to hook up a newer DVD player that uses RCA ports. If you have only a cable port (silver threads with a hole sticking out of back) on TV and RCA ports on DVD player, you have to buy a converter. You can get one at Wal-Mart for 20-30 dollars. Or you can just update your TV which it sounds like you badly need to do! :)
Is your DVD player a DVD/VCR combo? If so, hook the "tv out" (sometimes called "ant out" ) to the "ant in" on the DVD/VCR, then hook the "ant out" of the DVD/VCR to the "ant in" on the tv. Then make sure the DVD/VCR and TV are on the appropriate channel (3 or 4).
If it's NOT a combo, or these instructions don't work for you, i will need pictures of the inputs/outputs of the devices.
