Toshiba satellite A15 S127 pc notebook -how to set up CMOS: I cannot get into CMOS setup screen at boot up. I tried DEL, F5, F7, F8, etc. The reason I am trying this is as follows; I removed the original PC2100S-2533-0-A1; 256MB, DDR, 266MHZ, CL2.5; MICRON MT8VDDT3264HDG-265C3; 200 PIN, SODIMM SDRAM, and installed 2 sticks of ELPIDA 512MB DDR PC2700 200-Pin Laptop SODIMM, total 1Gb; (Label on stick reads: 512MB PC2700S-2533-0-A1). When I run HWiNFO32, a utility program to report hardware, it shows only 512 MB in the Row 1. What is wrong? The OS is Windows XP. Driver is updated.

I do not see anything at the bootup screen as to what to press to get into setup, boot sequence, etc. It proceeds so fast and it starts Windows flag, starting Windows almost immediately.

I tried all F keys and none worked to get into CMOS setup screen.

How to get into CMOS, simplly put F1, OR F2, F10,F12, OR DEL key, but very depend on your laptop itself.
tips, whatever key you need, will show on the boot up screen , like : type Fxxxxx for setup, Fxxxxxxxxx for boot up device order .

for your laptop, may have chance that you laptop too old, some model of ram are not fully compareable.

When the splash screen comes up you will see graphics at the bottom. arrow over until the CD/DVD drive is highlighted. Make sure your recovery disk is in the drive and follow the prompts. It worked on an A15-129 anyway.

1. Enter the BIOS - the key to press is written on the main screen, most likely F1.
2. In there change the boot order - put the cd first and the hard disk second - follow the instructions on the screen on how to do it.
3.Boot from your recovery disks and during install choose a full format.

Memeory does not show up

sure.

step one...same or different maker(not that important, but nice to know)

step two..speed of the memory(usually in nanoseconds) these need to be within 25% of each other, max. Same is the best

step three..i don't see the processor compatibility speed on the second set you installed. First one is 266MHz..what's the second set rated at?

I know it fits mechanically, but that's only the basics with memory swapping.
