I have a dell inspiron 6000 pc and a linksys WRT160N V2 router and I am having connectivity problems. my hp pc works fine wireless with the router but not the dell. I have been told by linksys that dell computers have something internally that needs to be adjusted or fixed in order for my wirelss router to work....can someone help me with this issue....thanks!

My Dell used to connect to my Belkin router Until I had to reset the router because I could not figure out the security code. I got a new Gateway and it picked up router automatically.

I have the same problem. My dell inspiron 6000 PC sometimes works after rebooting several times but is very spotty. I do not have an external wireless card. I have been told it is a problem with the Dell antenna. It is really a problem as the laptop hardly ever works!

HI Boston
I believe the wireless card that you have in your laptop is a dell wireless card.

Here are the instructions on how to get your wireless working
Start-All programs-dell wireless-dell wireless wlan card utility-open the window and on the uncheck let this tool manage your wireless.
Please make sure that Enable radio is checked otherwise no wireless networks will be detected by the computer.
Once that is done go to start control panel in the left hand side make sure classic view is what is there. Go to network connection and you would see wireless network connection. Right click and click on view available wireless networks.
click on refresh network list if any of the networks are not seen.
Still no go try to enable the radio of your wireless card by pressing fn+F2 and then try.

if your getting limited or connectivity right click on wireless network connection go to properties, select on the top the tab wireless networks and remove your network from the preferred networks click on ok.

now get back to view available networks and try to connect to your wireless network.

make sure if there is a security on ur network you are aware of the ntework key and its case senstiive as well. otherwise ask linksys to give it to u.

if your wireless says connected check the ip address and post it here . for finding ip address start-run-cmd-click on ok

in the command window type ipconfig and post the ip address here.

alternatively also try updating the wirless card from the site

thank you do post your results and feedbacks if any

Cant connect to the internet with linksys wrt160nv2

if this is DSL connection then you have to configure your modem before you connect router

follow this
first disabled wireless on your modem/router

.1) Turn off DHCP on your modem/router I am assuming this is verizon westell
2. Configure the first VC port to Bridge-Bridge mode
3. Keep hitting "apply" in the windows until the 7500 reboots
4. Plug the "Internet" port on the linksys to one of the normal ethernet ports on the modem /router
5. Turn on the Netgear and wait for the green Internet light to go solid

good luck if this does not work provide more info on your setup

LInksys wrt160n v2 wireless router not connecting to internet

Most cable companies will only allow 1 active device at a time conneceted to the cable modem. When ever you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always cycle the power/reset your cable modem.

When you are reseting the units, always rset the cable modem first, wait until it boots back up then reset the router. If that doesn't fix the poblem then it may be a configuration problem.

I forgot to ask if you are cable or DSL.

Hope this helps

Dell Inspiron 6000 with network card Intel/Pro Wireless 2200 BG

So u can connect to the router, but you arent allowet to access the internet?
The router gave your dell a new ip-number, but it dident gave you access to the net. You ned to do the settings in your router manual, let the router give your dell full access.

Good luck
