U5757-900, Hoover mach 4.7 vacuum: The power cord connects at the top of the machine, literally right behind the entry point of the cord. You don’t have to take any of the rest of the vacuum apart. I found that out after I did take the entire machine apart. The wires can be connected with pressure connectors.

SOURCE: replacing a fraayed and twisted power cord on a Hoover windtunnel upright

ok so I took this vaccum apart completely except for the electrical and motor systems. It seems to me that without dismantling both of these systems on the vaccum you can't replace the power cord. And I wouldn't recommend taking them apart unless you know what you are doing since replacing the power cord seems to require cutting the old power cord and soldering the new one onto the old terminals. All in all its probably easier to get a new vaccum altogether.

Replace power cord on Hoover windtunnel vacumm

There are many different models of Hoover Windtunnel so I can't be specific to your model, you will need to determine where the cord enters the unit and how to gain access to the internal wiring. Disconnect the old cord and attach the new cord using the proper connectors.

How to replace a power cord for a hoover vacuum?

Please add the specific model number, for example, Hoover vacuum, ECOVAC 497A.

Is this a wrap up power cord where you wrap it around two lugs on the vacuum, or is it a rewind type where the cord is wound inside the body of the vacuum?

Cheers.

Power intermittent: when cable is touched power returns

You have a broken power cord. Hoover is notorious for power cords. I'm speaking from personal experience. Replace/have the power cord replaced.

How do I get the u5290-900 apart far enough to remove old power cord and plug in a new one?

First you need to remove the Dirt Cup followed by the front cover / handle. Page 4 1-6 of the PDF Manual below shows how to do this.

http://static.fixya.com/Manuals/H/Hoover/5288_900_prg_B4F5E4DE0DB02590E2525C367EFB5C4C.pdf

This should then give you access to remove the internal cover and replace your cable.
