The changeover only effects those that use either rabbit ears or a rooftop antenna. It sounds like you have cable TV which will not change. No converter box should be needed if you have cable or satelite.

Do I need a digital convertor box to get the DTV signals or just the antenna?

You will need a digital-to-analog converter box and an antenna. The TV only has an NTSC (analog) tuner.

I hope this helps.

So you are telling me I need a digital converter for this TV to g

Who was not watching the months of public service announcements? You need a Digital-to-Analog (ATSC-to-NTSC) converter box to receive over-the-air (OTA) signals in most parts of the country. You do not need one for most cable and satellite box outputs--they are NTSC or HDMI. Some low-power, typically religious, stations are still analog. Note OTA may be high definition (HD) or standard resolution (SD) but will be digital.
To get HD on your HD set you must have OTA (HD TV tuner, not converter), cable (QAM TV receiver), satellite (HDMI or 5-wire RCA),or Blu-Ray with HDMI or RCA.

No digital channels

This TV is not able to understand digital channels because its tuner is not able to find that band, it works only in analog channels. To be able to get HD channels is needed a decoder box that has digital tuner build in. for a tv to understand HD Channels with analog tuner is to us to try to speak at the same time different languages.

Guide

This TV is analog, meaning there are no "straight digital" inputs, and the tuner itself is NTSC (analog), and not ATSC (digital). You will need a digital converter box to receive over-the-air (broadcast) digital television stations. This does NOT, however, preclude you from purchasing Digital Cable or Digital Satellite, and using the analog output on their converter boxes. The television will display high-definition images from those boxes and other sources.

I have the owner's manual in .pdf (adobe acrobat) format. Leave me your email address and I'll send it to you.

Thanks,
Rob

Digital box for analog tv not working

if you have the coax cable connections correctly connected , coax out to tv from box and antenna hooked to antenna in on the box then you may have to connect the RCA jacks, yellow = video , red = right audio , white = left or mono audio
because on these boxes you can choose in the menu to have the coax ( channel 3 or 4 ) as the output or the rca jacks ( line out )as the output . so the menu may be set for the rca jack connections untill you change it in the menu

My new tv digital converter box weill not pass analog tv signals. The tv works fine if I take the box out of the circuit. I am in a motorhome using the normal tv antenna on the roof.

you need to split ant. signal then get a manual selector switch hook 1 wire to convertor input then the output& the other ant wire to the selector switch then from selector to tv

No analog stations on my hdtv 37 inch, have no digal box just regular cable, regular cable works on normal tv

Try an antenna if you want to get analog over the air. I have a feeling that with the way the standards are changing, you will only be able to get digital channels. After February, the analog channels won't be around.

If you are using cable tv you need an HDTV box to get high def.

Programming digital channels

The problem is not with your TV. You need a digital box to unscramble the channels.
