This furnace has a really poor design that leaks the collected condensation from any point that there's a connection to the tubing to where it should be dumped into a drain. I've replaced the funky, unreliable tie wrap clamps that are supposed to squeeze the tubing pieces, but now the leaks are coming from the 1.5" coupling from the exhaust fan into the drain, but now it's leaking from the penetration in the sheet metal that collects condensation from the heat exchanger - this is now causing the burner assembly to corrode and now the igniter often fails to get all of the burners lit on start-up. Needless to say, this is really frustrating, and getting to be expensive. Any ideas from anyone that's managed to resolve any of these issues? This is so poorly designed that it's almost a joke (except that it cost me about $2K for this thing!). Please let me know if anyone has any ideas!
It probably doesn't have a p-trap. There should have been a small plastic p-trap that came with the system. The drain comes out of the secondary heat exchangers' drain pan, then connects to s small p-trap, then to the drain line. This ptrap can stop up. If missing, it can pull air from the drain line, back into the furnace, causing the water to pull, instead of drain. Also possible that the primary drain is stopped or running up hill. Or has some reason that air is being forced in the opposite direction of water/condensation flow. Also possible that something in the furnace is dirty like the secondary heat exchanger or evap. coil? Trust this...! Design is great with Rheem/Ruud. I don't sell them, have installed a few of them, but worked on hundreds. The installation of thus Ruud is more than likely your issue. There's always a chance that the manufacturer made a mistake, but I've cleaned up after ALOT of installers. Air flow may be an issue? Imagine a blower designed to move air through a 12inch pipe, that has been installed on an 8inch pipe. The blower still works, but doesn't work as designed. In this scenario, ductwork and return air opening sizes play in as a factor. Something other than design is an issue. If you've had the company that installed it working on this problem, get a second opinion.
Not a furnace guy but I do know that your drain should be insulated. Gotta figure out if it's water from the drain leaking or actual condensation dripping from the outside. If sweat, it needs insulated. Good Luck.

does the furnace ignite?? your system may not have been lighting and has gone into ignition lockout count the codes of the led lights then remove panel led diagnostic codes are listed there.
if led codes indicate no problem verify capacitor is good and that mtr is getting 115 volts.

I had the same problem, the motor shaft and bearings were going bad. There was about 3/16" travel on the shaft that the blower attaches to. I replaced the motor myself and it runs nice and quiet. I have had that noise that you describe for over 8 years, but it got real noisy about a week ago. I talked to the maintance department about it where I work and they said the motor bearings were probably going bad. They were right, I took the motor out of the furnace and they took it to a parts store and got me a new one $270.00 for it. It is a special motor due to the fact that the frame mounts bolt directly onto the motor housing. Make sure if you do this job yourself that you take the motor to the parts store so that they can match it up. The guy at the store told our maintance man if it didn't require the bolt holes in the motor housing it would have been $100.00 cheaper.

Again is this a spark or a glow coil? If it is a glow coil look at the coil and see if there is a crack or white spot on it. If so it needs to be replaced.

sounds like you have a heat pump heat pumps dont work below 30* temps you should have some type of backup heat

Look on the condensor, (outdoor unit) at the very bottom of the rear panel and you should find a red reset button. push it. If that does not solve the problem, and the outdoor unit is running (make sure both the fan AND the compressor are running) then you are looking at a low refridgerant issue and possibly dirty coils.
In that case, clean the coils and have refridgerant added.
