If your tv has only a raster display or just like a snow white raster appear with any channel receive, the cause is failure in the tuner board. the problem either has a loose connection inside of the tuner or no supply .if you have the tools like the philip screwdriver and soldering iron you can do this . remove the cover to access the internal part of the tv then look for the tuner, the tuner board this is where your areal antenna hooked up covered with metal. remove the metal cover then check weather the connection going to the RF coaxial of the tuner get broken or loose contact, just re soldered the connection.if still no channel receive, at this time you will need to have voltage checking which provide a digital tester. if you don't have an idea about this at this time you need a help with a trained tv technician.

SOURCE: I need a manual to tune in a Alba LCD 19880HDF

Quite often with different TV, the built in tuners are different, so even though you may have been able to tune in automatically with one you can't with other tv's as there tuner isn't so good, you may want to look at getting a bigger aerial as the 1 you have may not get a strong enough signal for the tv tuner.

I have an Alba 32880hdf freeview tv. I cannot record freeview programmes to my panasonic NV-FJ 780 vcr which has 2 scart sockets. I have no problem recording the teresteral channels. Can you help pls

Hi Victor,

You can't record the Freeview channels from the TV. It doesn't work that way. The reason you can still record terrestrial channels is because the VCR is still connected to your roof aerial with a co-axial cable and the VCR has its own built-in analogue tuner for recording terrestrial TV programmes.

To record the digital Freeview channels, you will either need to connect a separate Freeview set-top box to the VCR, or buy a VCR which has a built-in digital (DVB-T) tuner.

The VCR does not record programmes from the TV. It needs to be connected directly to the signal source, i.e. your aerial.

If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

Regards,
BElectric

I have just purchased an Alba LCDW16DVDHDF and it is not picking up all the freeview channels (including BBC). Is it a problem with the TV or with the signal from the aerial?

By pressing the volume + & - buttons at the same time on the TV itself you will bring up the master setup menu.
From here you can select first time installation and the TV will auto retune to the new digital stations

Cannot tune all digital cahnnels on Sharp aquos

Start by doing a factory settings/ defaults on the Sharp rather than a normal automatic retune. This should then be ok. You need to empty the existing presets first so it will find the new type of signal BBC is now using.
If still not working for BBC1 +2 then look at whether you have too much aerial signal strength. (ie a booster/splitter that you could bypass)

After having to retune my Alba Freeview Digital Top Box - Model No. A002157058939 - on September 30th to allow for better digital reception of Channel 5, I am no longer able to receive ITV3. Have retuned...

You may need a better aerial. Digital TV signals need good signals or you can't pick up the full range of channels. Broadcasters and others are tending to keep their mouths shut about the expense of needing much better things on the roof than what many people use to get away with on analog signals. Even if you have a good aerial, If you have the 'brown' coax cable connected to it you could lose signal and stations. So it's best to replace it with Satellite coax cable FT100. That should stop a lot of blocking caused by interfearance by cars or those off road bikes youths ride around on.

Built in freeview doesn't work but digibox does

Have you done a channel search on both tv sources(atv and dtv). most new tv's will automatically start will "New Install". If you havent had a digital installed recently then this could the problem. set top boxes and TV's will pick up the signal ok but others wont.

Dont not pick up freeview channels

if u pick up NON freeview channels, i think the antenna isnt good enough to pick up the signal..freeview requires a very good signal, very important.
If you think this isnt the problem rescan the channels
If you think the TV is faulty contact Samsung directly

Do not understand how to set up my alba digi box to my television and recieve basic digital channels help!

Hi.

Ok
1) plug aerial in to the antena in sock on freeview box.
2) plug short aerial type lead in to rf out socket on freeview & antena in socket on TV.
3) plug A scart lead in to the socket marked TV on freeview box & the other end of scart in to one of the scart sockets on the TV.
If your TV has more than one socket plug it into the one marked AV1 or AV2.

4) plug in freeview to mains electricity & switch box on.
5) Turn TV on freeview should appear automatically if it doesnt look on your TV remote for A button marked AV or a button with either A circle or square with an arrow going through it you may need to press this several times until you see digi picture come up.
Thats basically it but do check that you dont need a new aerial etc to be able to get digi signal in your area.
