SOURCE: akai lct2701td, flat screen tv won't turn on.

Oh Dear. I had the same problem!! The Akai televisons are not well engineered-meaning that they tried to put too much in a little package. The problem is that the power supply is malfunctioning"supposedly". But I believe that the sad truth is that the whole motherboard is malfunctioning. I can suggest a few TEMPORARY solutions but they too are not guaranteed to work!
1. Bring the tv to a repair shop and tell them to check the power supply. If it is faulty -have it exchanged and it will work for <2 weeks.
2. Literally "bend" the television in multiple directions to find a sweet spot where the screen turns on.( wait for the diode tu tur green before doing this) this will slightly bend the motherboard in hopes of agitating it to turn the screen/bulbs on.

I am terribly sorry that you too have this ridiculous problem!!!!!! :-(
Good Luck!!! I am crossing my fingers for you!!

SOURCE: akai flat screen lcd tv.. turns itself off after about 10 min

had a very similar situation with my Phillips 42 in. LCD TV.

Here was my Problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened it up( Warranty was Expired) and found several faulty capacitors on the PSB. Its pretty common. Major Electronic companies were sold faulty capacitors that fail in 2-5 years instead of 10-20 due to a lack of preservatives. It wouldn't surprise me if you have the same problem. TV will work fine for a few years and then just fail completely or slowly deteriorate.

Here are the solutions
1. Have it Repaired
2. Check for faulty caps and if you find some(budged or leaking) you know you have located a problem
Remove the board and replace the whole thing.
3. If you have some soldering skills you can replace the faulty caps.
Caps are very inexpensive, under a dollar in most cases. I replaced 4 for about $5.00

Hope this Helps.
Good Luck

Akai LCT320180 Picture won't display

Well I am not sure about that model but I had one do that and what I had to do was unplug and replug the LVDS which is the cord connecting the Main board to the screen. I am not sure exactly where it is located on that model but if you take off the back and locate the board that looks to be the "main" board. Then you have to locate the cord that connects to the screen, in mine it is a bunch of wires in a black covering, and unplug and replug it. I had to do this about 10 times to get the picture unfortionantly I already bought a new one but it now works.

Tv won't turn on

The problem is the electrolytic caps in the switch mode power supply. They are located on the output side of the supply board. You can tell which ones are bad by the "bulge" on the top of each cap. All need to be replaced..
