Have not taken it apart. Do not want to take it apart until I know what I am doing. Have the two Chips (4800). The are very small and need a magnifying glass to read the chips. I want to replace the original two (4812) which are problematic and currently failing. What is the process of removing the old chips and replacing the new chips. Any special hints to keep me out of trouble. Are they plug in or solder in? Do I need any special tools? I have worked on desk tops and other electronics, but have never worked on a laptop except for replacing the entire component, hard drive etc.
To remove the chips, gently heat the exposed legs of the IC with a soldering iron and desoldering wick. When you have removed most of the solder, you will be able to pop the chips off the board. To apply the new chips, see this video on Youtube
