I have a PS2 slimline, and it has recently started freezing on some games (not all). For each game, it freezes at certain points, like in Grand Turismo, it freezes whenever I choose the mustang, and in Grand Theft Auto, it freezes at the beginning videos. But in other games, there seems to be no problem. It is not the CD because I put the same CD in my sisters console and it works beautifuly. I didnt drop it or anything, what could be wrong???
when im on the sims 2 i play for about an hour but when i leave it to make a drink or something i come back and it has froze
or other time im in the middle of doing some and it frezzes
other times it frezzes the normal then freezes then normal really fast

on my under ground i load it up it goes on to the startup vidios then freezes halfway trough i havent been abel to play it yet

take the Ps2 gaming console to nearest Sony service center the problem is with lens it sometimes run quiet well but sometimes got hang you can do one little thing & try it take any of the Ps2 games which are getting freeze while playing take Colgate toothpaste the regular one take a little bit of it & apply on the game disc rub it on the disc & then clean & wipe out with a clean smooth cloth & clean properly after cleaning the disc will look good neat in condition but please make sure no particle is left after cleaning & now play the disc on Ps2 & see if it still get freeze then their is a problem with console better check it at nearest Sony service center for trouble free working
No you prolly dont have a warranty at all. I dont on my refurbished disk. As far as the game not playing it has to do something with the Cd. Alot of times the people that sell the disk send it through a certain kind of scanner and it erases or screws up the CD somehow. U might wanna take it back and get it replaced if its not to late.
Your Ps2's lens might be the problem,check it for any damages or dirt, if it still freezes maybe your ps2 has a problem within it programming capabilities.
i can only think of two things with that problem. one your lens might be scratched or the laser unit is no good. you can replace that part by removing it from an older unit or going on ebay buy it from them unit model SONY PS2 SPU3170 Laser 3170 Lens. this will solve your problem fast.

how do you check to see if dust is in it?
i dont want to open it up incase i lose anything or break it
