I have a Canon ZR800. I wanted to transfer video directly to a DVD recorder using a 4-pin to 4-pin cable. Apparently, the DVD recorder does not recognize the camcorder. I tried this with 2 different DVD recorders with no success. I also tried 3 different DV cables. That assures that the problem is not the cable. However, I am able to upload video to my labtop using 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable. So, I am stumped as to why the 4-pin to 4-pin interface is not working. Any help would be appreciated.
Just want to make sure you are talking about a four-pin firewire cable (small and flat) as opposed to a 4-pin s-video cable (round).
If you are talking about the latter, there is no control signal in an s-video cable so there is no "recognition" possible. Make sure that you have your DVD recorder set to S-video in and then hit play on the camcorder. You will need audio cables too if you want sound transferred. You should see video after you have manually pressed "play" on the camcorder.

Thanks for trying. My problem is definately with the 4-pin to 4-pin firewire interface. It is NOT s-video.
