RCA MC5104 Lyra will not power up. Player is brand new. I loaded 700 songs on player over a 4 day period. The player worked perfectly between downloads. After the last loading session I unplugged from computer and player would not power up. I have tried reset burtton. Also installed updated Firmware from RCA site. Tried recommended solution on your site of holding power button while installing Firmware. Windows Media will now not recognize player in Sync mode. Seems completely dead. I have tried all solution using my laptop and desktop. Please help.

After trying every possible scenerio to solve the problem, I brought the player back to the retailer. After hearing my story replaced no problem. Replacement works perfectly.

Lost rca lyra rd2765 mp3 software

You shouldn't need the specific software that came with your lyra -- I've used rhapsody, but you should be able to use itunes, windows media player, etc. to load songs. The easiest way is to just drag/drop your album folders under the Music folder on your lyra, disconnect from the computer and you should be good to go.

Mp3 player plays back songs too fast

First step is trying to do a firmware upgrade from RCA.COM. Go to the support page and look for your Lyra by model. Let us know if this corrects the problem.

Rca junk

When RCA first came out with the Lyra series the only way to get music onto the device was by using musicmatch jukebox that would convert your mp3 file to mpy before downloading it to the device. But now RCA has come out with a new firm ware update for these mp3 players that improved the players playback quality plus enabled it to use .WMA files. so first go to RCA support http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/select.aspx?u=downloads and find your player and download the firmware upgrade and install to your player its very easy and instructions are at the same site. You can now convert your music to .wma or use the free Real player that will convert mp3 to wma at the kbps that you request before loading it on. If your music is all ready in wma format you can use windows media player to send the files to your player. One last thing the .wma files that you put on your Lyra player need to be at least 128kbps or higher enhanced playback quality of wma files (160 kbps to 256 kbps).

RCA Lyra RD2317

Remember when you format memory like a hard drive you erase everything. Move music to your internal mp3 memory and do a profile - folders should appear. If you have flashed your player with the firmware update you can get 520 songs on the player for both internal and external combined but be warned that if you exceed this count your player will start to forget the earlier loaded songs - listed but not addressable (playable). The same is for the folder count eg. add album = artist + ablum title (min 2 folders). Plus always profile your songs after loading new music or deleting as this is an index build process to play song 152 = title x. This includes accidental radio recordings to MP3s. RD2312 , RD2315, RD2317 Lyra™ mp3 flash player Firmware/Application Upgrade Version 3.11 fixes:
  • Supports a total of 520 songs, in up to 50 folders, with up to 8 levels of subfolders.

Problem using Scan Disk memory card

I had the same problem, and that is what RCA answer me: "... Due to a unique FAT12/16 cluster size requirement, the supplied format utility that comes with the RD1021/RD1071/RD1075 MUST BE used on all SD/MMC cards before they will work in the RD1021/RD1071/RD1075. Once formatted, these cards will still be FAT compatible and should still work with other devices, i.e. RD1080. The format utility can be found under "Programs", "Lyra Personal Audio Player", "RD1021,RD1071,RD1075", "Format Media" once your software has been correctly installed from the included RCA CD-ROM. ..."
