I had the same problem. I purchased a bag of foam rubber with double stick tape. Open the DVD drive and place two foam rubber pads on both the left and right of the inside of the top cover.

...Dont worry thats actully very common Its Just a little Lag in the disk...If the disk is scrathed thats why It just hits the scratch and shuts down becuase it has no idea what it is...Hope thats helpful Or if that doesnt work Just Levae it alone for a litrle bit let it rest...
Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs. Scratches or marks on discs will render the game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating “Disc Read Error”. Best remedy for starters is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs. Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is normally required to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

This has happened to our 360. It seemed to happen the the 360 was on its side, We make sure that we do not force the games in fast, or remove them fast. If you need to get the scrathes out of the disc. Local game store can remove them. Or you can buy a kit @ Meijer or Walmary to remove scrathes from the disc.
You should try leaving the console flat while playing, if you haven't done that already. Keep it in a spot where it will receive no disturbance from outside sources. Another cause could be due to over usage. Limit the amount of hours spent playing.
Your laser in your xbox has been moved, this is causing scratching once the disc heats up. you need to take it to get adjusted. Or if there is a sticker on something on the disc that may unbalance it, take it off.
It sounds to me you have your 360 standing on it's side. I placed mine on it's side ONCE and because of it have a pretty scratched copy of Oblivion. Lay it horizontal, and that should rectify your issue.
Let me know if this helps.
