Set the REC/PLAY switch to record (the camera icon) and turn the mode dial to the camera icon. Press the button at the center of the cursor pad to bring up the menu. Select the wrench icon, then the speech-bubble icon.

Audio Problem!

Have you looked for the manual online from the Panasonic website? Just type in your model number on their support page and you should find the manual that will explain exactly the menu item that you need to find. Other than that, I'm sure there is an audio option on the system menu. The camera default is to be off because it uses a lot of extra memory to record sound.

Lumix DMC-FX01 Buttons not working

Remove the card and battery. Clean the battery contacts inside camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Be sure battery is charged. Press all buttons on camera. Insert card and then the battery. See if it works. If you can now get into the setup menu, you can do a reset from the menu.

Everytime I take a snapshot, I have to wait 30 secs to take another picture. I get something that looks like a musical note on the top and 30sec on the right, start shutter on the bottom. I use this...

This is called '"Audio Snap" and allows you to record some audio to accompany your snapshots.

To switch the function off, turn the camera on as if taking pictures, and press the Menu button. On the "Rec" tab, select "Audio Snap" and then the > arrow. Then use the up and down arrows to toggle between on and off.

I had the same problem and had to trawl through the manual on the Casio website. Fairplay to them, it did resolve the issue.
