Take a camera phone and point the remote at the camera, then press a button that you know is working the Tv - you will see a white flash from the remote LED when the button is pressed. If you press a button on the remote that does not work the Tv and you get a white flash from the remote LED when looking at the remote - as if you are going to take a photo of it - then the remote is good and the Tv is faulty. Visa versa, if you don't get a white flash then the remote is faulty.
If the remote is no longer available, then pop it open with a flat screwdriver and wash the remote with a mild mixture of dish washing soap and water. Then let it dry out in the sun until completely dry and then reassemble to try again. I have repaired remote controls in this way for people :)

I recommend getting a universal remote to replace your tv remote.

You can easially just replace the button assembly with included circuit board just unplug your old and plug in the replacement. They are very inexpensive and you can get them for most models at www.tvrepairworld.com

you can start with opening the remote control and clean the buttons on your remote control. don't use any aceton based products. there can be some grease on the buttons.
if you used the on/off and volume more then the other buttons.

Removing Your TV from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode

First, confirm your TV is in Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode:

1. Press the INFO button on your remote control. A list of settings appears.
2. See if the Picture Mode setting is set to Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode.

There are three methods for removing your TV from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode. If the first method does not work, try the second or third method.
Method 1

To remove your TV from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode, follow these steps:

1. Press the Volume button on the side panel of your TV. If your TV does not have a side panel, press the Volume button on the front panel. The TV displays the volume bar.
2. Press the Menu button on the side panel of your TV for about seven seconds. Again, if your TV does not have a side panel, press the Menu button on the front panel. If Dynamic or Dynamic Mode is displayed on the screen, your TV has been removed from Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode.

Note: You may want to press the INFO button on your remote again to confirm you TV is no longer in Shop Mode or Store Demo Mode.
