Our new high chair is already getting ruined by dirt. Can I buy high chair covers to protect it?

Black mold is VERY dangerous. Trash the high chair. Buy your friend a new one.

Have you tried the Etsy site? They have some really nice stuff - not the cheapest that's for sure, but definitely a bit different. This link shows a pink paisley design that I thought was gorgeous.

does the bottom of the seat have screws that you might be able to replace the foam padding from a craft store and buy vinyl there as well; like recovering a kitchen chair?

Moms Just Know.com has them. They also have new harnesses if your old one needs replacing.
