1996 grand cherokee front driver door will not close all the way, the door itself can close if i slam it on the outside but otherwise its very hard.

Your description indicates the door hinges require adjustment. Usually the striker would be removed and the door hinges adjusted for easy closing and equal gaps. It is likely in your efforts to make the door flush with the front wing, mudguard or fender, the hinges are too far in. Most likely your replacement door is not identical to the original - not unusual for various reasons... Once the door hinges have been adjusted to provide a satisfactory position and closing the striker would be refitted and adjusted so it goes into the catch or latch dead centre - neither lifts nor pulls down the door as it closes. That is where the door needs to be and if it stands proud a little it is just bad luck - often the front fender can be repositioned and then the bonnet or hood readjusted. A competent panel beater would be able to tweak things for you to make them acceptable. It might have been better to fit a new latch to the original door.

AUTO TRUNK LID DOES NOT FULLY CLOSE

adjust the latch so that the catch will lock over properly. You may need to use a round bar ( screwdriver blade ) Place it under the latch and while pressing on the release button pull the latch out to the open position. The latch may be 1/2 closed before the boot is put down and the latch will not go any further

Door keeps opening when on

The door is usually held closed with a male and female door catch/latch, the female side will sometimes break internally and wont keep that door closed, or will pop open when the clothes get close to the door.

96 jeep grand cherokee - something happened to latch on driver's door and now door won't close. daughter's car - she's at college - help!

Probably the spring broke which returns the latching mechanism to its "open" position. Pull the door handle and hold it. Take a screwdriver and flip the latch (catch) in the door to the open position. Now, you should be able to close the door 1 time, and it should latch. You need to replace the latch mechanism as soon as possible. You can get a used one from a junk yard. Some on-line parts stores also have free on-line repair manuals which show how to disassemble the door and replace the latch. It is not a difficult job. Anyone with some basic tools should be able to handle it.

Whirlpool duet we broke the catch that holds door closed on washe

If you are referring to the door latch mechanism on the door facing, the following link explains step-by-step how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575840-replacing_a_door_latch

If you are referring to the catch on the door itself, it can also be replaced. Just remove the two Torx (T-2) screws that hold it in place and remove. Replace as necessary with a new catch. Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites are reputable and offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I listed also include helpful exploded view parts diagrams to assist you in locating and properly identifying the parts you need.

If the model number is correct, the part number for the door latch is 8182634. The door catch part number is 8181651. You can view these parts under the "Door and Latch Parts" heading as items 7 and 9.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this is helpful to you.

Durabrand model cd-1493...cd won't play

A friend of mine has one of these, and the same thing happened. Toss in a CD, and the unit reads it, but doesn't play it. Looking at the CD components, all appears to be well, and I was even able to trick the unit into turning on using a paper clip to hold down the "lid closed" switch.

What I found the issue to be was with the lack of downward or clamping pressure the CD was getting with the lid closed. If you notice, with the lid open, there is a round part that "floats" and serves two purposes...one is to align the CD and keep it steady, and the other is to grip it, as the CD's do not snap into the lower centering piece, but rather just sit on it.

I solved the problem by placing a rubber o-ring on it, The one I used is about 1/16" (1mm +/-) and about 1 inch (25mm) diameter. I used some rubber cement to attach it to the top piece. I'm not sure how long this will hold, but it's worth a shot. I figure keeping a CD in the tray will help keep the ring in place as well.

Good luck!

Door won't fully latch, light stays on, dryer won't function

There is typically a small plastic piece that catches the door and keeps it latched. The door has the male side and the frame of the dryer has the female side.

Either the male part on the door has broken off (or bent) or the the female part on the frame has broken. Replace this part and you'll be back in business. It is typically called a door latch and it comes with both the male and female parts.

Here is a picture
of a typical one.
