My solution:

I first downloaded the network or modem driver from Dell website (should be called file :R155386.exe). Once installed, I uninstalled the driver along with my wireless driver then reinstalled my wireless driver using the same exe file(you might have to browse for it when it prompts, should be in C:drive)! Now everything is working super.

Go to Dells support site, link is below and put in your model laptop, then choose your operating system, there will be a list of available drivers you can download from them. I will try and give you the direct link below. The below is a direct link to Dells modem driver. Copy and paste to your address bar.

You can contact Dell Technical Support and see if they will send you a new XP CD. All the drivers can be downloaded at Support.dell.com for that system. If you can't get Dell to replace the CD, try Ebay. Here is an Example:

Dell Inspiron 6000 won't connet wireless network after reinstall
check DEVICE MANAGER if the wireless card have the right driver installed. if you found that the wireless card have yellow exclamation point on the right it means, you installed a wrong driver.

check also in BIOS if the wireless card is enable and the switch is turn on.

press Fn+F2 to enable wireless radio/anthena (funtion key with wireless icon in blue color)

some dell laptop have hard switch located right side check this and turn the switch on.

if you want to see the icon n task bar, go to control panel....network connection...right click on wireless adapter...select properties...check Show on taskbar

i found the sound driver that works on DELL INSPIRON 6000
It also works on:
Inspiron- 6000, 93000, 9200, 2200, 1200, XPS Gen 2
Latitude- D610, D810, 110L, D510, D410, X1
Precision- M20, M70
Computers- MXG051


This should help other Dell users as well.

Problems identifying and loading dell inspiron 6000 drivers
Go to www.support.dell.com and select "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have the proper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installed return to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag",(serial number) of the 820 laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for every customer's computer they sell.
