My AC adapter cord, for my Dell Inspiron B130, had a break in it so I bought a replacement one. Now the "battery" light will start to blink orange with this new cord. I'm trying to find out what this orange light means.

Is the flashing orange light flashes quickly or slowly?

  • Justin Washburn Dec 13, 2008

Ok, thats what I was affraid of, I looked up the owners manual, on page 67 it says that if the light flashes quickly the battery may be defective and to contact dell. Here is a link to the page

scroll down to the bottom where it says owners manual it is a 37 meg pdf. its on page 68 at the top.

Remove battery and try to power on the laptop.. If it powers on and boots up then the battery needs to be replaced.

No power battery flashes 4 orange

If it is orange or is blinking orange, the battery charge is low or expended. Remove the battery and re-install it. Plug in the AC adapter and connect it to an outlet. Turn on the computer.

When the battery status light blinks green and orange, the battery temperature is too hot for charging. Shut down the laptop, detach the AC adapter, and allow the laptop and battery to return to room temperature before attempting to charge the battery.

If the battery status light blinks orange rapidly, the battery itself may be defective.

Battery light blinking orange once, then green twice

LOL, It means whoever sold you that Power Cord probably sold you one with the interchangeable end that can plug into any laptop. If it's not the interchangeable end type, they sold you one that is not compatible with your laptop. Get rid of it in a hurry before it burn out your motherboard. You my friend need to get on ebay and purchase a power cord designed specifically just for an Dell Inspiron 1525. All you need to search for on ebay is Dell Inspiron 1525 AC Adapter. They probably cost less than $10

I have a Dell Inspiron B130 which has divice status lights on the lower left side of the keyboard. The third from the left is blinking red/orange but the computer seems to be working OK. I thought that...

Having read what others are saying it seems to be a very common problem with this laptop, you can try to ignore it or run your laptop direct from the mains WITHOUT the battery plugged in.
Good luck

My inspiron laptop wont turn on after I replaced

Verify that you obtained an exact replacement power adapter for the Dell. If it is an exact replacement then try this. Disconnect power adapter. Remove battery. Reconnect power adapter without the battery. If it turns on, then power off and place battery back in. Then try again. If problem returns, there could be a problem with the battery itself.

Inspiron B130 shuts down after about 5 seconds

Sounds like a bad AC adapter not charging the system. If a known good adapter has the same issue (Or this adapter works on another system) then it is a motherboard replacement

My Inspiron B130 will not charge, even with a new battery. I plug in the power cord, will not charge still. No power light, nothing

just had the same problem- the socket where you plug in the adapter had shorted out-needed to be resodered-no big~100$
BUT my ac adapter was bad as well- may have caused the short (they are cheap on ebay)

BATTERY LIGHT FLASHES ORANGE

hi,
if you have tried both batteries with the same laptop and they are giving you the same error code, then it could very well be a motherboard problem, both the batteries cannot be bad, what you can do is try these batteries on some other compatible laptop model to check if they work fine there. Also try swapping the AC adapter as in both case you might be using the same Ac adapter, try using some other good known AC adapter as well.

Further queries are welcome

My laptop battery won't charge

possible when the old AC adapter blew it took part of the power management circuit with it, This is the circuit that detects and charges the battery, I'm not sure whether this a seperate replaceable daughter card or whether it is part of the main motherboard. you will need to investigate this (or send it for a service)
