LG had a serious quality problem with the main board and there is a bad solder joint on all original 42lv4400 and 47lv4400 units. It will manifest the problem either went it gets warmed up and then power down itself or never power up. The red light stays on and the TV does not respond to manual or Remote input.
A factory reset will not fix this problem. It takes a "NEW" main board. The big white label on the back panel has the original manufacture date and LG will send out a factory authorized technician to repair the unit within the first year after that manufacture date.call 800 243 0000 to schedule a home visit to get the repair done.
By the Way, a 42lv4400 main board will not work in a 47lv440 even though they look identical. The reverse is also true.

I have this problem. My set is 8 months old. It occurred suddenly. LG is sending a technician out tomorrow, after I called the number Mark David suggested.

SOURCE: the tv quit responding to the remote

On this unit if you do a fact reset it should fix this problem steps as follows. PS you might need 2 people

1- unplug power cord from back of TV
2- on the key pad on the tv hold the input and vol dowm buttons
3- while holding the buttons plug the tv in, keep holding the buttons until the screen comes up.
4- once the screen is up there should be a white K in a blue or green box.
5- next, on the key pad on the tv press the channel and vol down buttons once.
6- a menu should pop up
7- using the sharp remote, locate the directional pad
8- press the down button once should bring you to a 2nd page
9- top should state FACT INIT press the right arrow once to turn on, next a series of back slashes come up.
10- screen goes green and says INIT Successful
11- unplug power cord from back of tv wait 10 sec then plug back in. tv should turn on by itself. should be back to as new.

My LG 42LV4400-UA wont turn on... not showing any red light how it used to be when it was working properly.

Fault with the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be on a separate board, or on the part of its main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

I have a LG LED TV that the stand by light is on but the TV will not power up. The TV is 13 minths old.

I looked at the previous solution but I would be more apt to say you need to look at the capacitors on the power supply. It is a very common problem, especially for a TV that is on more than it is off. Simply pull the back cover and look at the capacitors on the power supply. It will be the board in the middle. If a couple of them are domed at the top or leaking then they need to be replaced. If you have someone that can do a little soldering for you the repair could be as cheap as $5.

TV will not turn on with remote or the power button on the tv

First verify that you have the set is plugged into a working outlet. If your outlet is fine, then you are either dealing with a power supply or main board failure. You will need to have the set properly diagnosed to be sure.

"I have LG 37LC2D TV,when I turn the power on remote controlled or manually it immediately powers off. Is this an issue with the on/off switch inside the tv and how can remedy the problem?"

I have an LG as well.
My troublshooing says:
"Check the power control setting. The power supply may be interupted.
Check if the Auto sleep feature is actiated in the Time settings.
Refer to the " Sleep timer".
If there is no signal while the TV is on, the TV will turn off automatically after 15 miutes or so"

My LG 42LV4400 has a red light in the bottom left corner but it will not turn on.

hello!
2 month and already quit? OK: first thing to do is to unplug TV off the power strip or wall outlet. Wait for a few minutes and plug the set back into the power source. Try to turn on the set manually, by touching sensors or buttons on control panel. some TVs have push buttons, some touch sensors. If your TV was set to "auto power on" mode, then don't touch anything after plugging set in. That's the only action you can do to "revive" the set. If you will be able to turn set on manually and "free standing" without any external connections, except power cord, check your remote control unit. 95% of consumers turn on their sets via "clickers". In case of complete failure, you might have month or 10 month left of factory warranty, depend on price you paid. Use it a.s.a.p! If needed. There is no magic button to heal broken circuitry.
Good luck,
Alex.
