Amp problem I have an Alpine MRD-M301 amplifier and was wondering why it wasnt powering my sub/ working, It has everything hooked and wired up but for some reason it wont work, well the LED screen turns on and it says that there are between 12 and 14 volts going through it (depending whether the engine is turned on) But says that ther are no amps running through or from it and thus not running my sub How do i fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Make sure the amplifier setting "disable" is off then turn off remote power and turn back on.

Lower the voltage to an appropriate level. The amplifier needs to automatically reset.

First of all make sure your ground is secure and that you have a contiguous ground run from the battery to the amplifier. Once that is done check all of your connections to the amplifier, the remote and the radio/stereo. After checking your connections turn the unit on if no sound comes from the subwoofer, then we can rule out connections as the problem, and can concentrate on the amplifier. You will need a schematic diagram of the amplifier, a multimeter to measure the DC voltages with which to compare to the diagram, and finally an oscilloscope to view the audio waveforms. first take voltage measurements of the major test bpoints to see if they are in accord with the schematic diagrams, if there are any deviation correct these. Once the DC voltage corrections are made check the signals at the test points on the unit with the oscilloscope. At some point you will come to a point in the path that should have signal but it does not, this ares is the area you should concentrate on. Thank you, Shuttle83
