Location of drain plug on Hayward H series heater ?

There should be two. Remove the metal cover on opposite side of plumbing side and the "Return" heater will be exposed. There is normally a plug there. On "Header/Plumbing" side, there should be a plug on bottom of the in/out header, below the plumbing.

How do I drain the water from my Hayward heater for the winter

There should be a drain plug on the bottom of the header. This is common on most of Hayward's in-ground pool heaters. Since you did not give your model Number, I can't say 100%. You can also check Hayward's website for the manual and look under "winterization". you should be able to find your product manual here: http://www.haywardnet.com/inground/products/manuals.cfm#HeatersGas_Heaters Hope this helps. If you need further assistance post a reply in the comments, and don't hesitate to leave good thumb rating if you found this helpful. Thanks, and good Luck!

Heater is leaking

Close all pool drain valves, also all return valves. This will stop any water being sucked out of pool.

Hayward Model H250IDL is leaking water from drain valve.

Water leaking from the heater is not a good sign. This is an indication of a leaking heat exhanger. The heat exchanger will have to be replaced and the part is made of copper. It is very expensive, depending on the age, you may just want to replace the entire heater. Exchangers usually leak due to bad water chemistry.

POO; HEATER DRAIN HAY WARD G AS HEATER

Are you asking how to drain it? If so some older models come with a drain **** located on the bottom side of the black manifold. It is brass. You can loosen the drain **** and the water will drain out, be careful when tightening the drain **** back up though, they can break easily. You do not have to put much torque on it at all, dont even put a tool on it at first, if it leaks, then tighten it a little more. The newer models come with a brass plug instead of a drain **** and you can remove the brass plug. Or the best way i think is to unhook both unions for the inlet and outlet on the heater, use a shop vac on blow, and blow the water out. But if you are winterizing the pool equipment, the heater is not the only thing that needs to be drained.

Drain gas heater for winter

On the side of the heater, you will see the water connections. Directly underneath them, on that black component that they attach to, there is a drain plug of some description. It may be a draincock, or just a plug. In either case, simply open or remove it to safely drain your heater. In a pinch, you could also disconnect the water connections at those unions (the big grey connectors), but they can be fussy to reassemble, and you run the risk of losing the o-rings.
